Welcome to the March 2011 issue of Wheel-E, the monthly newsletter of the Canadian Paraplegic Association (Alberta). Wheel-E includes information about news and events related to spinal cord injury and other physical disabilities.

News - Province Wide
Full Serve Gas Stations If you know of any full serve gas stations that are not included on our list, please let us know and we will be sure to add the information to our growing list. Thanks to another member, information about two additional locations have been added this month.
Alberta SCI Solutions Fund
Applications are now being accepted for the Alberta SCISolutions Fund. Application deadline is Thursday, March 31st, 2011at 4:00 pm. Eligible applicants include Albertans with spinal cord injuries and registered charities/societies that provide services for individuals with spinal cord injuries within the Province of Alberta. Limelight Film Festival
Coming in March and October 2011, Limelight Film Showcase will illuminate disability in films from around the world. Most of the films are written, directed and/or performed by people with disabilities - from documentaries to dramas. They are intended to entertain, provoke thought, spark discussion and inspire! The showcase teaser will take place on Friday, March 11th at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital in the Bill Black Auditorium from 12:00 - 4:00 P.M.

Tetra Announces Website Database of Assistive Devices
Tetra announced the expansion of their Website Database of Tetra built assistive devices - now expanded to over 750 Devices. Information about more devices will be added as projects are completed by their talented and dedicated "army" of volunteers working across Canada and the United States to help children and adults with disabilities.
The database has been designed for ease of use by everyone including prior Tetra clients, potential new Tetra clients, healthcare professionals, service providers, volunteers and the general public. Find a device by either using the "Quick Search" feature (e.g.wheelchair footrest) or by browsing through the "Category and Sub Category" feature (more detailed instructions are found under "Find a Device" tab at the website)

The Art Expressions Program offered through the Cerebral Palsy Association in Alberta offers participants the opportunity to learn and explore a variety of mediums; from working with clay, paintworks, drawing and sculpturing and much more! Sail Your Own Ship
Sail Your Own Ship is a wellness program offered by the Canadian Paraplegic Association (Alberta) that focuses on teaching skills to individuals with chronic health issues. Workshops have been held in Calgary and Red Deer and more are being planned. Read more...

Get in Motion is a nation-wide physical activity counseling service for Canadians with spinal cord injury. This FREE service is designed to provide participants with the information and support they may need to meet personal physical activity goals, or just a little motivation to get started with a physically active lifestyle.
