As we plunge into the summer and our many conferences I wanted to bring you up-to-date on the many happenings here at the Department of Youth. |

OCCHY Workshops
 The Orthodox Christian Coalition for Healthy Youth will offer two workshops this summer.
- Diocese of Toledo Conference - this coming Thursday June 16th at 3:30 PM in the Chestnut Room. Join us as we discuss our efforts to reduce substance use and abuse in our Orthodox Youth.
- Archdiocese Convention Workshop - Wednesday Morning July 27th 10:45 AM - 1:00 PM. Listed as either the Department Of Youth and Parish Ministries - or as OCCHY - Orthodox Christian Coalition for Healthy Youth. Our guest speaker, a former White House acting director of Drug Free Communities, will talk about opportunities for our parishes to help reduce substance use and abuse in our Orthodox population and in the communities we serve. She will also be available to parishes interested in starting new coalitions to reduce substance use and abuse.

Healthy Youth Resource Table
Come visit us at the OCCHY - Orthodox Christian Coalition for Healthy Youth Table in the vendor area of the Archdiocese Convention. We will have free resources for Clergy, Parents, College Students and Teens.
Come visit us and ask questions.

Invited Guest to speak during the Clergy Meeting at the Archdiocese Convention.
 R. Gil Kerlikowske, Director
White House Office of National Drug Control Policy has been invited to address issues of drug use and abuse and what we as the Church can do to help our young people make good choices. R. Gil Kerlikowske was nominated by President Obama and confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy. In his position, Mr. Kerlikowske coordinates all aspects of Federal drug control programs and implementation of the President's National Drug Control Strategy. To date, a visit to our clergy meeting is still on Director Kerlikowske's schedule. |

Report to the Archdiocese Board of Trustees
On Saturday June 4, Fr Joseph Purpura, reported to the Archdiocese Board on the activities of the Department of Youth and Parish Ministry, as well as the work of OCCHY, and the Committee for Youth of the Assembly of Bishops.
