April 25-27, 2013 is the date of our conference - Earth Matters. This conference will develop communities of practice in environmental education and we will celebrate, share, learn, plan, and commit to action.
Our Keynotes
Richard Louv's bestselling book Last Child in the Woods, sparked a debate that spawned an international movement to reconnect kids and nature.
Etienne Wenger-Trayner coined the term Communities of Practice and is an expert in creating successful, productive and innovative learning communities.

It is the beginning of a new school year and we wanted to reminder teachers of the many professional learning opportunities provided by Alberta environmental education organizations.
ACEE has updated the ConocoPhillips Menu of Professional Learning Opportunities. The Menu also includes some of the organizations that offer in-school presentations. All of the organizations are listed in the Encana Environmental Education Resource Centre as well.
ACEE is supporting the delivery of this course by the Outdoor Council of Canada October 20 and 21.
This course is suitable for anyone wanting to lead outdoor daytrips with students, familes, or adults in simple terrain or conditions. It also makes a great first step toward becoming an OCC LL1 Instructor.
ECO Canada is inviting 150 students in grades 11 and 12 and 30 teachers to the Red & White Club in Calgary on October 12, 2012 for a day of environmental career exploration and learning at the 2012 Green Careers Summit.

A new Nature Kindergarten has started in Victoria BC. The students spend the entire morning outside and the afternoon in the classroom (BC has full day Kindergarten). This news clip summarizes the 2 year pilot project.
A school in New Brunswick is starting the year off with healthy and local foods in the cafeteria. It has involved changing everything they do, but the staff say it is worth it. This clip from CBC profiles the initiative.
