We are now 7 Billion.....

Many pundits hold that human population growth is the mother of all environmental issues. Is there a way for you to tackle this in your classroom? The UN announced on October 31 that the world has reached 7 billion. Here are some resources for all grade levels:
  • The famous 'dots video'. This short video from Population Connections uses dots to show world population growth starting in 1AD.  The last few seconds pack a punch!

  • CBC broke down this number in some compelling ways.
  • Population Connections has activities for all school levels that attempt to demonstrate the impact of population on the earth.
  • Wombat -  this video has been around for awhile, but so to the point!
