Celebrate Canada Water Week!
March 14-22 is the inaugural Canada Water Week. The webpage has listings for events across the country, tools to help you put on your own event, and other great resources.
- Learning for a Sustainable Future has posted their top water resources for teachers.
- Diving In is a resource from the Canadian Museum of Nature that answers intriguing questions about water.
- March 20 is World Storytelling Day and the theme this year is water. There are events taking place throughout March in Calgary and Edmonton.

| Earth Hour - March 26 at 8:30pm
This event is not meant to solve climate change in one hour, it is a spark to inspire the heart and bring action home. This year participants in Earth Hour are encouraged to 'Go beyond the hour' and make a commit to change something in their daily life.

Green CommUnity School Grants Program
Your school could receive up to $5000 for projects that help reduce a community's impact on the environment, increase understanding of environmental issues and solutions, stimulate environmental leadership, and inspire students and communities to take action. Deadline March 31, 2011

School Ground Greening Workshops - Edmonton
Toyota Evergreen Learning Grounds helps schools and their communities create outdoor classrooms, providing students with a healthy place to play, learn and develop a genuine respect for nature.
Learn how to create a naturescape at your school and how to apply for a greening grant at these two Edmonton workshops:
- Tuesday, April 12: Spruce up a Grey Schoolyard with Native Plants
- Tuesday, April 19: Have Big Food Fun in a Small School Garden

Jack Leslie Grant - Calgary
$1000 is available for environmental projects in Calgary.
This grant recognizes the positive impact Jack Leslie, former Mayor of Calgary, had on the city and the environment.
Projects must:
- Be located in Calgary
- Directly benefit the environment in Calgary
- Be planned and implemented by youth

High School Photo Contest
The Mayor's Environment Expo in Calgary is again hosting a photo contest. Enter photos in the following categories:
- green go-power!
 - Building Green
- R3 (reduce, reuse and recycle)
- Nature in Action
Great prizes! All photos will be displayed during the expo as well as a reception at the Triangle Art Gallery May 24.
Deadline for submissions: April 22, 2011.

Visit a Shepherd, an Orchard and Learn About Bees! Sprout Farms, just outside Edmonton, is offering field trips this spring for K-4 students.
- Explore the life of bees and learn about their importance to trees and other plants from a beekeeper
- Learn about trees and fruit from an arborist and orchardist
- Study soil and plant relations with a gardener
- See and feel wool on the hoof through to finished products with a shepherd
