They came, they learned, they created logic models. They also laughed, played in the snow and sat in the hotub! A perfect balance of fun and serious work.

November 15-18, nine teams gathered at the Sanctum Retreat C
entre for the 3rd annual leadership clinic. Two schools (Lord Beaverbrook High School and Bellerose Composite High School) and two school divisions (Canadian Rockies Public Schools and Rocky View Public Schools) benefited from the event.

Call for Submissions - Celebrating Community Voices

The GEOEC is now accepting presentation submissions for the 2011 conference in Nordegg May 12-15. GEOEC Conference

Along with the traditional workshops, the conference is looking to create space for sharing and dialogue on relevant topics and it looking for people to lead facilitated discussion groups.

Jasper Adult Learning Council invites you to a two-day progr
am aimed at connecting educators with local resources. This is an alternate event to Teacher's Convention for teachers in the area.
The training will be delivered through experiential workshops including active participation and dialogue. Educators will be provided with an opportunity to form new and enhance existing communities of practice for place-based learning.
 
The Big Picture
  • eARTh.350.org is the first art exhibit large enoug350.orgh to be seen from space! Groups from around the world created giant art exhibits that will raise awareness about climate change. It is part of 350.org, a project that  focuses on solutions to reduce the carbon dioxide in our atmosphere to 350 ppm.
     
Questions for your students:
  • If you were to chose one image or symbol to represent the climate challenge what would it be?
  • What are other ways you can communicate your message? Here is a great list compiled by earth.350.org.
     
 
School Ground Greening GrantToyota Evergreen Grant

Snow is just starting to fly, but if you are planing on greening up the schoolyard, it is time to think about funding! The Toyota Evergreen Learning Grounds helps schools create outdoor classrooms to provide students with a healthy place to play, learn and develop a genuine respect for nature. Applications are accepted at four different times of the year, the next deadline is December 17.
