Buy Nothing Day - November 26

What a concept! Going a full day without buying anything. Use this day to challenge your students to think about their consumption and learn about where and how products are made. Here are a few resource ideas:
  • PBS Kids has worked with Annie Leonard of the Story of Stuff to create some fun shorts for younger students called Loop Scoops. These short clips cover juice boxes, video games and other items.
  • For older students, the Story of Stuff follows common products through their life cycle.
  • Calculate your ecological footprint on line. Edmonton and Calgary both have footprint calculators.
