Friday's Lineup

Greetings!

This Friday we will showcase a few selections from one of our favorite wineries, Marchesi Incisa della Rocchetta from the Piedmont region of Italy.  From the official website- "Welcome to Marchesi Incisa della Rocchetta, one of the oldest and most respected winemaking families of Piedmont, Italy. Here we will refer to it as Piemonte. Since the days of our ancestor, Marchese Leopoldo, dating back to the mid 1800's, we have been devoted to the vineyard cultivation in our unique terroir, the Monferrato Hills. Along with the hills of Langhe and Roero very nearby, these hills deliver some of the best wines in the world. Located in Piemonte, we are one of Italy's most important wine-growing regions, on the border of France and Switzerland. Piemonte's literal meaning is the foot of the mountain, because it is lined by the Alps and the Appenine mountains."  We will showcase a rosé and two distinctive reds. East End Wines is offering a killer deal on the Sant' Emiliano Barbera.  Normally retailing for over $30, we will be offering this special wine at $18.97!  Don't miss out!

Friday Night Tasting Lineup

2011 Futurosa Chiaretto
Chiaretto is known in Northern and Central Italy as a "light red", usually a rosé style wine.  This fresh example from Marchesi Incisa is a blend of their Barbera and Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir) grapes.  The aromas are a lively mix of berry and strawberry notes with spicy and floral characteristics such as cinnamon and rose petals.  The palate is full of bright red fruits with noticeable, food-friendly acidity.  A classic, Italian rosé great for sipping or pairing with fruit and mild cheeses.

Our Price: 14.57

2011 Grignolino d'Asti

From the official website "This wine derives its name from the Piemontese dialect word grignole, which means grape seeds. The Grignolino grape has a lot of these seeds, responsible for great tannic structure. You will at first be puzzled by this wine's color, similar to that of a rosè wine. Despite its light red hue, this wine reveals great structure, a delicate dryness and a long pleasant finish. Grignolino is a rare wine in Monferrato. In a world of sameness, this is a wine that stands out and is sure to bring you pleasure. Color: Bright ruby red, with age tending towards garnet red. Bouquet: Intense, refined and floral. Notes of cranberry, strawberries and roses with a finish of spice reminiscent of autumn. Palate: Dry and light-bodied with a crisp, fresh finish. More roses prominent spice. Pleasantly savory with a bright acidity. Balanced tannins."

Our Price: 14.57

2007 Sant' Emiliano
From the official website "Sant'Emiliano is a great example of excellent Barbera d'Asti. The qualification Superiore reflects its superb quality, which starts in the vineyards. Much reduced yields per vine and hand selecting grapes during harvest, then carefully vinifying them and ageing the wine in French oak barrels for a minimum of 18 months. Terroir, the best viticultural practices, sound vinification techniques and time are needed to deliver an exceptional experience to wine lovers. Starting in 2007, Sant'Emiliano acquired the DOCG appellation, the highest ranking among Italian wine. Color: Deep ruby red with violet reflections when young, showing a garnet rim when aged. Bouquet: Intense and complex with hints of red berries and spices. Jordan almonds & licorice. Palate: Savor this aristocratic and well balanced wine, with its long and elegant finish. Generous and round on the palate, with a chocolate cake in the middle and white pepper at the finish. Delicious and with great persistence."  This wine normally retails for over $30.  Check it out!
