Friday Night Tasting Lineup

2011 Greywacke Sauv Blanc

(Gray, rocky soil) Cloudy Bay winemaker - Grapefruity, tons on the water.... Juicy as opposed to searing acid. Creamy. Grass / lime. Some peppery and herby notes there. Tasty. Most vineyards are in conversion to become certified organic. "Imagine a refreshing sorbet-like medley of fresh lychee, grapefruit and honeydew melon laced with flinty minerality and finished with an infusion of mandarin and lime zest. A lively, invigorating wine with persistent grapefruit flavours and a steely blackcurrant tang - crisp but succulent with a long enduring finish."

Our Price: 19.57

2010 Brokenwood Semillon

More rich apple / lemon. 1970 vineyard. 12%. Has some zip & malic. Clean. Less spendy. Fresh, green. Mineral. Sustainable. "As always, a beautiful color with luminous greens. Distinctive Hunter Valley lemongrass/straw aromas as a young wine. Sweet fruit flavors initially on the palate indicating perfect ripeness at harvest and in fact a bit riper than usual. Excellent acid structure, long flavors of lime and apple blossom. Perfect in its youth and a wine that will bottle age gracefully."

Our Price: 19.57

2008 D'Arenberg Laughing Magpie

Black grape / white (Magpie) - Declassified Dead Arm - Viognier sets color (gets richer over time). 6 pack. Pretty fruit. Straight progression / dusty tannins. Depth. Scrubby. Sustainable. "The wine is robust and concentrated with great intensity. The expressive palate reveals touches of raspberry, plum, blackcurrant and blueberry with underlying spice and just a hint of savory oak. The mineral silky tannins build nicely on the palate and provide good structure and impressive length."

Our Price: 25.57

2005 Kilikanoon Cabernet - Block's Road

A favorite. Planted early 1970's. 5,000K year. Cork, going to screw cap. Nice density, great length, complexity. Lush, ripe tannins, sweet & ripe mid-palate fruit. 14.5%. "offering aromas of liquorice and dark berries weaving through notes of lifted violet perfume and spicy cedary oak. The focused palate leads with briary blackcurrant fruit, ripe blueberries and savory dark chocolate, its spicy anise notes blending sublimely with French oak. Fine yet firm tannins and tight acidity pull the palate together beautifully for a defined and elegant finish."

Our Price: 32.97
