Friday Night Tasting Lineup

2009 Mil Vientos Torrontes

Bodega Merced del Estero, San Juan, Argentina. Mil Vientos is produced in San Juan Province north of Mendoza. Although the Rodriguez family has been working the land since 1897, the vines for this wine were re-planted in the early 1990's. Their small state-of-the art winery was built in 2004 to produce top-quality wine with a true expression of the local terroir. TASTING NOTES: Crisp and aromatic, this is a perfect wine to enjoy on a spring day in the garden amongst the blooming flowers. Tropical fruit and lemon cream mingle with streamlined honey and white flowers. Bright acidity fills the mouth with a fresh finish. A lovely example of Torrontés. Flowery lime, kiwi and mountain stream aromas reflect the wine's clean personality. The mouthfeel is fresh and lightly wavy, with lychee, kiwi, lime and green apple flavors. Clear throughout, with good balance and weight to the finish. Very nice for a tangy, zesty, lean sort of white. A fruity, aromatic dry white wine with grape flavors and fresh acidity. Have with seafood or serve by itself.

Our Price: 12.97

2007 PrimoGenito Pinot Noir

Bodega Patritti - Patagonia. Fruity, floral, smoky. It doesn't have the finesse of a burgundy, but has good acidity and makes you want to drink more. An excellent first vintage, the Primogenito has soft-cherry fruit. Surprising minerality and earthy complexity add interest. The silky texture and bright, juicy acidity make for a lovely, balanced, true-to-form Pinot. Floral. Violets, cherries, vanilla. Structured, intense, deep. Sweet tannins, layers of coffee & chocolate. These soft and feminine wines can go quite well with fowl and pasta dishes as well as fish. A really nice Pinot with fish is nearly unbeatable (perhaps only eclipsed by Malbec with porterhouse). This 12 month French oak aged Pinot from Patritti has a really nice strawberry vanilla nose, ripe cherries on the palate with a finish of minerals and graphite. It is an extremely flexible wine for pairing. One bottle to sample, only a few to sell - this might be a tasting to come to early.

Our Price: 20.57

2007 Bautista Simona Malbec Reserve

This Argentinian Malbec offers a pleasing nose of vanilla, wet earth, leather, smoke and violets and flavors of black and blue fruits, cocoa powder and plums... grippy tannins and ample acid provide traction and structure, and the finish is tangy and long... at this price level it's a pretty nice wine, but a little more cellar time might tame some of the acidity... Warm, warm woods. Cherries.  Plums. Violets. Structured. Dusty plums. Beautifully balanced. Nice acid pop, and long finish. Earthy with leather & candied fruit & smoke, oaky vanilla on the nose. Plums & violets.. Black fruit & cocoa, plummy going in to grippy tannins and bright acidity on the palate. Long & tangy structured finish, calming down from a more angular release into an increasingly balanced wine.

Our Price: 14.97

2010 Chanarmuyo Cabernet Sauvignon - Cabernet Franc

From La Rioja, Argentina. Deep with blackcurrant fruit. Earthy nose, with some sweet pepper & olive. Cherry & spice box. Some cooked herb from the Cabernet Franc, sappy fruit balances with the higher acid and rustic tannins on a long and savory finish. Cassis, soft black fruit. Oak brings vanilla, some chocolate, and a little coconut. Dark in color with cassis laden Cabernet fruit, soft, black fruit and cherry flavors, spice box and a savory, long finish. We really love to point people to this wine and we have been flying through it - if we sell it all at the tasting, we will have it back in very soon!
