Friday's Lineup

Greetings!

Tomorrow we will showcase French wines from our friends at Serendipity Wine Imports.  Three of these wines are unique to our shop, produced by Chateau Goudichaud in the Graves region of Bordeaux.  Also, we will showcase a bright little Beaujolais for the coming warm weather months.  More notes below.  See you there!

Friday Night Tasting Lineup

2010 Racines de la Terre Sauvignion Blanc

Classic Sauvignon Blanc nose with herbaceous notes, yet with underlying ripeness. Intense orange blossom with mineral hints. Rich citrus character on the palate is livened up by zesty acidity and a lingering finish. Notes of peachy aromas with hints of pepper on the finish. Drink on its own well chilled or with simple snacks and delicate fish dishes like sole or plaice; or try with goat cheese. A vintage with generous sunshine. Cool nights allowed the grapes to keep their balance, vivacity and delicate aroma. Harvest took place under favorable weather conditions at the end of August.

Our Price: 11.97

2010 Louis Tete Le Pot - Beaujolais Villages

Light purple in color, with an elegant, fresh intense nose of soft red fruits. The palate is equally open and fleshy with lots of fruit and little tannin. Wonderfully soft and accessible, plenty of character backed by good balancing acidity. Carbonic maceration is the key to Beaujolais wines' success. The wines are fermented, with only the skins, cracked, as opposed to crushed or pressed. Through this type of fermentation the Gamay grapes true, delicate flavors perform. Once the short fermentation is complete the wines are racked and filtered prior to a short rest in the bottle before being released. Elegant, fresh nose of soft red fruits. The palate has plenty of character backed by good balancing acidity.

2009 Racines de la Terre Malbec

The color is deep and crimson. Perfectly integrated notes of plum, currant, cherry, and nutmeg. Cherry and tobacco aromas are confirmed on the palate. All estate-grown Malbec, from the Languedoc, with deep color. Delicate cherry & tobacco aromas on the nose. Ripe fruit composed of plum and currant, black cherry, & baking spices. Well structured wine, with a lengthy finish and a touch of French oak. Goes great with sausage & mixed-grill, even poultry, so this is a great TX BBQ wine. This was our big favorite of the Racines de la Terre wines. Not as rustic as one might expect, and a great alternative to its Argentine brethren. Nice & mellow example of Malbec in the old world, deep & concentrated. Serve with sausage, mixed-grilled barbecue, poultry and soft-ripened cheese.

2009 Racines de la Terre Bordeaux

Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot, all estate grown from Ch. Goudichaud in the Graves de Vayres in the Entre-Deux-Mers. Nose of blackberries & red fruit shadowed by a eucalyptus note & sweet tobacco. A great Bordeaux vintage, that comes across here with red plum, berry, vanilla, & cigar box. Long & smooth finish of dark & red fruits with soft black tea tannins, for a Bordeaux at such a crazy low price. Great with grilled & roasted meats, cold meats, smoked meats. Try with cow's milk cheeses, or chocolates. Ch. Goudichaud's winemaker, as well as fruit. The Racines de la Terre 2009 Bordeaux is handcrafted with 100% estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes from Château Goudichaud in Graves de Vayres, famous for its gravel soils that are perfectly suited for Merlot and Cabernet. Critics herald 2009 as a sensational vintage for Bordeaux and that certainly applies to this wine with its notes of red plum, berries and cedar box, leading to a long finish with supple and velvet like tannins. Perfect companion to grilled red meats, roasts, cheese, and chocolate.
