Friday's Lineup

Greetings!

Tomorrow we welcome La Cigale and will taste a selection of wines that are fairly new to the shop.  La Cigale bases their efforts on the belief that many great wines come out of family vineyards where the owners toil in the fields and caves daily. At La Cigale they think the wines from these family producers are more likely to retain the sense of place that stamps them uniquely, and that the cost of enjoying them is more reasonable when the bottom line takes back seat to personal pride in producing the best wines.  We will showcase three wines from France and an Italian Primitivo.  See you there!

Friday Night Tasting Lineup

2009 Esprit Fruite Sauvignon Blanc

Cotes de Gascogne - Super tart & cool after the golden apple nose. Surprising. Crazy tangy. I like it! (Sam, 9/2/11). Nice racy acidity in the 2009 Cotes de Gascogne wines that we are finding. Crisp & pool-side ready. Fresh & fruity citrus.

Our Price: 11.57

2010 A. Jaume Ventoux

In the Jaume family, the generations have perpetuated the profession of winegrower since Mathieu Jaume decided, in 1826, to grow vines in Chateauneuf du Pape. The successions were assumed by Marius, Fernand and Roger. Slopes of clay and sand. Grenache Noir 50% - Syrah 50%. Traditionnal vinification, cold maceration. Aging in vats. Bottling 6 months after harvest. Great nose of black fruits. Very aromatic and enjoyable young. Elegant tannins, soft, this is exactly the good definition of "vin de plaisir". Drink it in aperitif  a little chilled  or for a whole meal.

Our Price: 12.57

2010 Luccarelli Primitivo 2010

100% Primitivo grapes. Temperature controlled maceration and fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Deep rich color, refreshing acidity gives added lift to this rich and broad wine.  Puglia, Terra di Sava - A pleasant wine reasonable value. Sweet cherry notes. 80 year old vines that are hand-picked. Ripe dark plum fruit and brambly berries. Nice earthy & rustic mineral. No oak. A classic Primitivo wine is high in both alcohol and tannins, intensely flavored, deeply colored (a dark brooding core with violet highlights towards the edges).

Our Price: 13.57

2009 Bressy CDR Red 09

The domain was founded by the grand father of Marie-France Masson. When her father Emile Bressy retired she took over. She is married to Thierry Masson. The next generation Paul Emile Masson helps his parents at the estate. The area with vines is 30 ha. Several cuvées of Cotes du Rhone Village Rasteau are made. The difference between them comes foremost from the age of the vines. Not all of the cuvées are made every year; it depends on the vintage. 70% Grenache, 30% Syrah. Aged for about 12 months in old barrels.

Our Price: 14.57
