TOMORROW WILL BE THE COOLEST TASTING OF THE YEAR.  We are ending 2011 with a bang!  Tired of the same old sparkling options for New Year's Eve?  Join us for a comparative tasting of dry Lambruscos, a Prosecco, and bubbly cocktails made with TRU Liqueurs.  Check out the notes below for the scoop on these goodies.  It is going to be groovy, DO NOT miss this one!

 

Also, Sam and I (Matt) would like to wish all of you a Happy New Year!  We have the coolest customers ever and appreciate your business and friendship.  2012 will bring many new and exciting things to East End Wines; we still have not given up on our license change and plan on having the new patio area, as well as classes and other events, as soon as possible.  There are a few options on how we will accomplish this, and we want to do it right.  So bear with us please :)

Simonnet-Febvre Cremant Bourgogne Rose- 18.97 - Pinot Noir, whole cluster, stainless. Peach, nectarine, bready, creamy mousse. Lovely.

 

Chartogne Taillet St. Anne NV - 50.57 - Nutty, apple, pretty Champagne. Vibrant, creamy, lemon curd, serious. 60CH-40PN. Great.

 

Jean Pernet Grand Cru NV - 46.57 - Citrus &yeasty bread, cream & honey. Fine, balanced, light butterscotch. Mineral. Rich BdB, ripe.

 

Jean Pernet Rose - 55.97 - A brut blend of the Champagne Blanc de Blancs and Pinot noir from Epernay. Traditional, with lots of PN finesse.

 

Lallier Grand Reserve NV - 48.97 - Bottle aged before released, soft, creamy, fine. White fruit, lemon, bisquit. Low dosage - 70 PN / 30 Chard. GC.

 

Marc Hebrart Cuvee de Reserve Brut NV - 48.97 - Citrusy lemon / blood orange, leesey. Floral. Red berries, floral, fresh sage note. Tight, mineral, tangy.  

 

Billiot Brut Rose NV - 63.97 - Currant & ginger - red berry fruit, finesse, with PN coming through carrying chalk - focus, citrus. Bright.

 

Jean Pernet 2004 - 57.57 - Citrusy, biscuit yeast note - great mouth-feel, bead - very fine and well balanced. Great outing from this very tasty house.

 

Vilmart & Cie CG Cellier Brut NV - 68.57 - Tart apple & peach, delicate, mineral, creamy, pear, yeast, bracing, grapefruit, brioche, complex!

 

Perrier Jouet Fleur Brut - 123.57 - from the best Chardonnays of Grand Cru Caramant and Avize, with Mailly Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Special.

 

Pierre Peters Les Chetillons Grand Cru 2000 - 95.97 - Incredible, a favorite producer. Rich, smoky, ripe, mineral. Cote des Blancs fruit.

 

Godme Brut Rsv 1er Cru - 52.97 - pretty toast & pear, yeasty. Creamy, bright acid. We thought this was a bargain for how tasty. Green apple.

 

Dampierre Ambassadeurs - 39.97 - Red berry, mineral, brioche dough, lemon zest, juicy acid. Floral, with elegant citrus finish - lengthy.

Cleto Chiarli Lambrusco Brut Rose Spumante 

85% Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro varietal, thriving on sunny slopes. Fruity aromas, fresh dark fruit flavors, nice tannin structure. From a more full & powerful Lambrusco, with 15% Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir) blended in. Gentle press, low temperature Metodo Italiano (Charmat) process. Delicate. Aperitivo, fruit salads, ice cream.

Cleto Chiarli Lambrusco Premium Vecchia Modena 

Manual picking of the best grapes. Fresh ripe strawberry & raspberry nose, citrus zest. Dry, with the great blend of tangy acid and lightly bitter mineral. Citrus & herb palate - balanced & refreshing. Lighter in color. Enough acid to pair with fatty white meats, or poached eggs. Lengthy & fine mousse.

Cleto Chiarli Lambrusco Enrico Cialdini Secco 

Nose has light floral / spicy hints. Another Grasparossa, with more concentrated cassis flavor, raspberry / blackberry / brambly note. Acidity is more juicy than tart, making the mousse come off as more creamy. 80 cases came to the US. Plum, and smoky mineral come through a bit on the medium length finish. Fruity but dry. Light tannins.

Cleto Chiarli Lambrusco GdC Centennario "Amabile" 

"Slightly sweet" with deep ruby color, pink bubbles. Ripe black cherry. Soft & delicate. Grasparossa acidity allows it to carry a more typical Lambrusco level of sweetness without seeming cloying. (30g / L?). Frizzante level of mousse, but lively. Strawberry, floral. Juicy, light tannins, good concentration. Only 8% alcohol. Charming.

2010 Bellenda San Fermo Brut Prosecco Superiore 

Pale straw color, vibrant mousse. Note of hay and dried wild flowers on the nose. Apple & pear tree fruit, lanolin, mineral, fresh pastry yeastiness. Dry, with round fruit still on the palate. Small bead bubbles keep the wine focused and the palate refreshed. Pretty robust & rich for Prosecco, will work nicely with more buttery seafood dishes.
