Friday Night Tasting Lineup

2009 Bisol Prosecco Crede DOCG

The color is a brilliant light straw yellow, while the perlage features a myriad of minute and persistent bubbles. The nose is intense, fresh, elegant and it features an extremely agreeable fruitiness of apples and pear. Rich and balanced palate. Fantastic with risottos, pasta with vegetables, light fried fish. Great with sushi, sashimi, tempura and tofu. It is also the ideal Prosecco for preparing the original Bellini."Crede is among our favorite Proseccos year after year and the reason we love it so much is because of its sharp mineral focus and generous aromas of peach, honey and citrus. The wine offers balance and harmony with a floral flair and a bright, crisp close. The blend sees 15% Pinot Bianco and Verdiso. " - WE 90, "A toasty hazelnut scent adds depth to the tangerine and peach notes in this wine. It's rich and broad, a good partner for crispy spring rolls. " W&S 90.

2010 Araldica Vini Piemontesi - La Luciana Gavi

Light straw yellow color, with aromas of grapefruit, green apple and lemon. Light to medium bodied white wine with balanced citrus and green fruit flavors, mineral overtones and a lovely, refreshing, dry finish.Gavi wines are fresh, crisp and lightly aromatic from local Cortese grapes grown in the southeastern regions of Piedmont and popular in the nearby port of Genoa. Great wine to drink with squid or shrimp. The grape used to make Gavi di Gavi. Look for lemon/lime citrus fruit and hints of pignolia nuts on the finish. This is a great alternative to Pinot Grigio. Serve with cold seafood antipasto or with garlicky shrimps.

2009 Colosi Nero d'Avola Sicilia

89 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2009 Nero d'Avola emerges from the glass with layers of vibrant, perfumed red fruit. This silky, graceful red offers tons of varietal character and wonderful balance in an up-front, juicy style I find particularly appealing. The Nero d'Avola is aged exclusively in steel, which helps preserve quite a bit of freshness. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2013. (Jun 2010)" The color is cherry red with black highlights. The nose is blackberry, cherry, spearmint chewing gum and a herbal note. Full bodied with silky smooth flavors of black and blueberries, then cherries and cinamon spice are added. The mid-palate brings in milk chocolate covered blueberries. The tannins are well integrated and there is a good dose of acidity. There is a decent finish that shows as much acidity as there is fruit. Perfect with red meats cooked any style, pasta with tomato sauce and aged cheese.

2009 Produttori del Barbaresco Nebbiolo Langhe

According to Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Produttori have long made delicious, ageworthy Barbarescos, but in the last few years the overall level of quality and consistency has gone up several notches. Best of all, prices have remained exceedingly fair." This is a second label for the Barbaresco and it is made with the grapes from young vines or those vineyards that produced a less intense and concentrated juice. It still has the quality necessary to be classified a Barbaresco, but the Winery declassifies it in order to sell it at a younger age and maintain the Barbaresco quality as high as possible. Medium bodied, with nice spice notes of white pepper, anise and violet. Perfect with sausages, ham and salami, pizzas and pasta with simple sauces, spicy food.

Amaro Montenegro Liqueur

"Displays early botanical scents of orange peel, fresh not dried coriander, red cherry, pekoe tea cucumber. Palate entry is sweet at first then it quickly turns mildly bitter and botanical; by midpalate, there's a slight sweetness of tangerine/mandarin peel. Aftertaste is moderately bittersweet and citrusy. Rated: 90-95 HR - WE Christmas pie, nutmeg, and herb aromas are inviting. Bitter, medicinal herbs, honey, dried blood orange peel, and treacle. Finishes with a great mix of the sweet and bitter elements. A deeply flavored, highly-drinkable digestif. International Review of Spirits Award: Gold Medal - RATED: 94 points (Exceptional).
