Wednesday Night Tasting Lineup

Left Coast Cellars

2009 Pinot Gris

Winemaker - "This racy little number flirts with just a hint of sweetness, and alluring notes of tropical fruits and flowers. Serve this Pinot Gris with spicy Asian or Indian fare." 90 WS - ""Broad and fulsome, this wine's texture is a bit loose and juicy, but the pear flavors are irresistible. It has the phenolic stuffing to match herb-roasted chicken." Intl Wine of the Month Club - "Brightly robed, highly aromatic, and vibrant from start to finish, Left Coast's Pinot Gris begins its seduction with a cornucopia of enticing aromas: quince, kiwi, Meyer lemon, and lime just for starters. On the palate, the 2009 The Orchards Pinot Gris simply explodes with flavor.  Lemongrass, white peach, and quince, infused collectively with a soft subtle minerality, delight the tongue and tantalize the gullet as it begs for more.  Add to this graceful repertoire a polished, wonderfully crisp finish that hints of fresh ginger, kiwi, and lime."

Our Price: 13.97

2006 Cali's Pinot Noir

Winemaker - "The biggest, boldest Cali's to date, this wine offers up a hedonistic nose of cherry, brambly blackberry, pine, orange peel and cinnamon to awake your senses. A truly unforgettable palate suggests raspberries and blackberries with an allusion to wild mint and thyme. Finishing with anise and molasses, this wine speaks to the incredible bounty of the remarkable 2006 vintage. A wonderful glass to sip own its own, this wine has just the right amount of acidity and structure to compliment robust lamb, beef and game dishes." 91 WE - "A home run. Given extra bottle age, this is drinking optimally at the moment, with a spicy, brambly nose mixing blackberries, mint and chocolate-covered cherries. There's a scent of fresh cut wood also, and a mouthful of fruit and barrel flavors that are both nicely integrated and complementary. The long finish lingers into a resonant note of black tea. (reviewed on 3/01/2011)" Intl Wine of the Month Club - "Richly robed, deeply aromatic, and packed with flavor, this full throttle Pinot Noir exudes entrancing scents of cherry, blackberry, bramble, raspberry, thyme, smoky earth tones, Asian spices, and more.  And that's just for starters.  On the palate, the 2006 Cali's Cuvée simply explodes with flavor.  In fact, this powerful Pinot Noir puts to shame nearly every French red Burgundy we have tasted for under $50.00.  Moreover, it exhibits depth and complexity along with power, pride, and plenty of panache.  Consequently, it should come as no surprise that this comely Pinot Noir garnered a Gold Medal at the 2009 Critic's Challenge as well as a slew of other high profile awards. "

Our Price: 17.57

2006 Latitude 45 Pinot Noir
Winemaker - "Boldly unapologetic, the 2006 Latitude 45 really flaunts the intense characteristics of this vineyard block. Bordering on jammy, the nose is profuse in notes of Bing cherry, raspberry and cranberry backed with a sense of candied angelica and cardamom seed. Flavors of sweet maple smoked bacon, dark chocolate, mission fig, anise and Asian spices compliment the berry driven palate. Present but ever so smooth, the tannins and the full body of this wine make for an enticing drinker capable of a bit of aging. This wine begs for barbeque and smoked meats." This vineyard is directly intersected by the 45th parallel, it is only 12 acres and sits right next to a spring fed lake. The wine shows big raspberry and cherry aromas, this is a very showy wine, almost a little jammy and smoky, the palate is red fruits and spice, the finish is lingering with very smooth, soft tannins.
