Friday Night Tasting Lineup

2009 Dom. Couron CDR Viognier

From Jean-Luc and Marie-Lise Dorthe. The Viognier fruit is sourced from Saint Marcel d'Ardeche, 45 miles northwest of Avignon where the soils are predominately rift boulders of limestone over granite.  From 28 year old vines.  One sniff of this, and you'll know you're dealing with a Viognier! It offers great quantities of the expected white stone fruit aromas, but also has orange sherbet flavors with a touch of tropical fruit on the finish. Absolutely fresh and lively. The Roman coin on the label is one of many found in the vineyard. Honeyed apricot and pear aromas that are sweetly floral with subtle hints of cinnamon. Good structure and acid balance play against the fruity flavor profile in this soft and dry take. Brings back summer in just one sip. Flat out wonderful. Smooth, melony, slightly tart with a nice finish.

Our Price: 11.57

2009 Mont Tauch Les Garrigues Grenache Blanc

Vin de Pays du Torgan - Languedoc-Roussillon. 88 Wine Spectator... "Tropical and white fruit notes, lead by ripe peach, guava and mango. Lush, spicy finish features plenty of vanilla and cream. Drink now thru 2014." Commended by Decanter World Wine Awards 2010. Mineral & rich. Great to see a 100% Grenache Blanc. Interesting pepper & spice notes for a white wine. Light beeswax, peach, pear, and golden delicious apple. Enough to be a crossover wine for California Chardonnay lovers. Creamy. Vanilla & peaches come out more on the finish.

Our Price: 14.57

2007 Mont Tauch Fitou

Fruity & spicy. Carignan, Grenache, Syrah. Fitou Mont Tauch is a rich wine with lots of character and a hint of spice. This modern style is blended from selected grapes from the three Fitou villages of Mont Tauch. Interesting and tasty. Deep dense purple fruit on the nose - very earthy - follows through onto the palate with additional smoke characters. Lots of acid and tannin, but pretty good balance. Pair with lamb or beef, Indian food, firm cheeses. Fruit driven & modern.

Our Price: 12.97

2006 Marrenon Sepia Rouge

From the Cotes du Luberon in the Southern Rhone, made from Syrah (70%), with the rest being Grenache (30%). A dark red wine, typical for a concentrated wine. The bouquet is subtle and elegant with aromas of red fruits and black currant as well as vanilla and cinnamon notes. In the mouth it appears rich and balanced, with odors of licorice, violets and red fruits, mixed with fine wooden tones and silky tannins. The wine has a dark robe with purple tints, typical of an intense concentration. The nose is delicate and complex with oak aromas (vanilla and grilled bread aromas) and shows notes of red fruits dominated by blackcurrant and raspberry.
