2010 Hugues Beaulieu Picpoul de Pinet

Fresh and fine aromas of grapefruit and exotic fruit. Lime flavors, with typical focusing acidity, are hallmarks of Picpoul. Picpoul means "lip stinger", which refers to its high acidity. This wine is fresh, clean and fruity in style. Great with oysters and seafood. A great value, this wine impresses novices and hardened geeks equally. Known as 'the Muscadet of the South' in France, this is to the Mediterranean coast of France what Albariño is to northwest Spain...the default wine for fresh shellfish. We really like these wines for the burning hot summer, and they make great sippers for the porch in the middle of the night, or whenever...

NV Brut D'Argent Sparkling

This is a great toasting wine from eastern France that's a bit fruity with hints of citrus, almonds and fresh-baked bread. Slight hints of crisp green apple and pear, a bit of mineral and some touches of buttered brioche at the finish.  Nice value. The name `Blanc de Blanc` means it's made only from Chardonnay grapes. Tasty bubbles on the cheap, a great value from the Jura.

2009 Kuentz-Bas Alsatian White

"The cuvée is a blend of 60% Sylvaner, 15% Muscat, 15% Auxerrois and 10% Chasselas and straddles the line of both rich and light. The Sylvaner and Chasselas grapes add to the precision and definition of the blend, while the Auxerrois and Muscat lend aromatic intensity and a lush texture. This wine is dry, but bold and full in flavor with roasted apples, lemon custard, flowers and an exotic spice tone." Lots of wine geek grapes blended in to one great wine - with enough residual sugar to balance the acid and mineral, juicy, not cloying.

2010 Dom. Dupeuble White Beaujolais

JP Brun and Damien Dupeuble are among a small group of Beaujolais vignerons who are working with old vine Chardonnay parcels in the Beajolais' golden south. Dupeuble farms 3 hectares of 10-80 year old Chardonnay on chalk and limestone. Fermention and aging is done in stainless steel. This is a very pretty Chardonnay in an unwashed kinda natural pretty sorta way. Salty-sweet pit fruit and tart apples with a dusting of mouthwatering alkaline chalkiness. Fleshy as opposed to cut. Perfect. Very cool & rare juice.
