Greetings! Sorry for the delay, but we had a last minute change on one of the wines for tonight. The wines to be tasted are all un-oaked, lighter white wines to beat the summer heat! These emails are archived on the website; they can be accessed through the "current and past newsletters" link at www.eastendwinesatx.com. The weekly wine update is also tweeted, so if you are interested, you can follow us through the link below.
See you tonight!

2010 St. Cosme -Little James' Basket Press Viognier / Sauvignon
Fresh & juicy aromatic white from the Languedoc, with crispy freshness of lemon zest, tangerine preserves, watermelon, peach blossom & apricot. Grapefruit & tropical fruit : mango & licorice. Winery dates back to 1490. It can be tasted for aperitif and works with many different kinds of food : roasted vegetables, little rocky fishes, stilton, bleu de bresse, asparagus, chicken with morels, risotto, pasta with mascarpone...etc... Fermented and aged in vat. Aromatic, rich & soft Viognier gets balanced by Sauvignon Blanc.
Our Price: 14.57
2010 Rayun Chard Rapel From Chilean Organic wine maker Alvaro Espinoza. Best fresh fruit from growers who cannot bottle their own wines, at super low prices. Clean, with a dollop of Sauvignon Blanc to brighten it up. Gets more rich with age, but this is at a very fresh, bright, good summertime choice style. We have had a lot of this on our various & sundry back porches when it is burning hot outside. Great as an aperitif, & has the acid to go with lots of light foods, & can cut into something that gives you some fat on the palate. Home run with fish & salads, grilled chicken, lighter pork dishes. Win.
Our Price: 9.97
2009 Boisson Bordeaux Blanc From the Wine Curmudgeon - "It's a white blend of sauvignon blanc and semillon, with some lemon fruit in the front and a long mineral finish. It's about as close as I have come to finding older-style white Bordeauxs that don't taste like New Zealand sauvignon blanc. As such, serve it chilled on its own, with almost any kind of grilled or roast chicken, and even with entree salads."
Our Price: 12.57
2009 Naveran Cava Brut 09 Made from classic Cava grapes (Xarello, Macabeo, Parellada) in the Alt Penedes, Spain, then aged on the lees for a year and a half. The still wines are harvested, crushed, and fermented separately in stainless steel at low temperatures. Citrusy and floral nose leads to a dry, fruity, clean taste with balanced acidity and a lengthy finish. Great as an aperitif with tapas or sushi, Cabrales cheese. Consistent & superior quality, all estate fruit, old vines with smaller yields for concentrated, high quality grapes. Most of it is sold to the French, who know their bubbles.
Our Price: 14.97
