Friday's Lineup

Greetings!

Tomorrow we will taste five great value wines from Southern France.  These selections are represented by DeVino Importers, who have a great portfolio of lesser known European houses.  These are all fairly new items on the shelf for East End Wines. Also, due to a slower tasting schedule with distributors, there is no weekly wine update for you this week (everyone is on vacation!)  We will let you know as soon as we find new goodies to rave about.

See you Tomorrow!

2009 Dom. Couron CDR Viognier

From Jean-Luc and Marie-Lise Dorthe. The Viognier fruit is sourced from Saint Marcel d'Ardeche, 45 miles northwest of Avignon where the soils are predominately rift boulders of limestone over granite.  From 28 year old vines.  One sniff of this, and you'll know you're dealing with a Viognier! It offers great quantities of the expected white stone fruit aromas, but also has orange sherbet flavors with a touch of tropical fruit on the finish. Absolutely fresh and lively. The Roman coin on the labelis one of many found in the vineyard.Honeyed apricot and pear aromas that are sweetly floral with subtle hints of cinnamon. Good structure and acid balance play against the fruity flavor profile in this soft and dry take brings back summer in just one sip. Flat out wonderful. Smooth, melony, slightly tart wih a nice finish.
