2009 Dona Auristela Sauvignon Blanc 09
The grapes were fermented in temperature-controlled tanks and French oak barrique prior to blending, resulting in a wine that shows intense varietal characters with added complexity and rich, mouth-filling texture. The grapes for this wine were selected from the lower terraces of our vineyard. To give added complexity and interest, 10% of the juice was fermented in French oak barriques. Estate grown. Light yellow-gold. Subdued aromas of Meyer lemon, talc, white flowers and herbs. Light-bodied, juicy citrus and pear flavors are nicely concentrated and given spine by zesty minerality. Plays ripeness off vivacity smoothly and finishes with refreshing bitter cut and tangy persistence. This will be very flexible at the table."- (Stephen Tanzer). Earthy undertones, dry, with a nice low acidity (for Sauvignon Blanc) make this wine ideal with fish or shellfish. Ideal as an aperitif or with meals. Try it with seafood paella or grilled pork with parsnip mash. Apricot, tropical fruits, melon, pear, honey and grass. Beautiful structure and finish.

2008 Galan Varietal Chardonnay
Balance of fruit & oak - dry fruits, & spices. Its origin is Lontué Valley in Curico Valley, Central Valley, Chile. The wine displays an excellent balance of fruit and oaky flavor with predominant character of dry fruits and spices. Lontué, being that bit further south and higher up, is much cooler, resulting in wines with a more elegant, European character to which is a small amount of vanilla from oak aging. The wine was aged on its yeast lees to give additional complexity. Bright straw color with subtle aromas of peach, pineapple, melon and spicy pear. Supple rounded pear, peach and fig flavors with creamy vanilla oak and a touch of hazelnut. A relatively restrained wine with some elegance, minerality and a refreshing finish. White meats and fish.

2009 Dona Catalina Carmenère Reserve
Carmenère, traditionally a Bordeaux varietal, has adapted very well to the soils and sunny climate of Chile. This Carmenère captures the best attributes of this varietal, intense color, spicy dark berry character and complex aromas of sweet spice, fig and tobacco. On the palate the wine is full and round, with soft tannins and a lingering finish. Carmenère was prized in the Medoc for both its depth of color and, in ripe years, flavor that can range from herbal to gamy and add complexity and interest to blends. Carmenère requires more heat to ripen than the other varietals planted in Bordeaux. Carmenère was imported to South America in the 1850s, along with other Bordeaux varieties, prior to the European outbreak of Phylloxera. The largest established vineyards of this variety are in Chile, while it is virtually non-existent in France.
