This Friday we are presenting a range of unique Spanish wines sponsored by the new Texas distributor, Lerin Wines.   These are wines that you won't find in chain restaurants and wine retailers.  We will pour our customer favorite bubbly, the Gran Pasion Cava, as well as a beautiful Albarino and four reds.  For more information, see Sam's tasting notes below.

NV Gran Pasion

Dry, well balanced light and crisp brut. Creamy mouth fell with delicate clean finish. Peach sherbet characteristics are a peachy match for Fried fish & sweet fried plantains. Brut sparkling wine perfect for apertif or anytime. tasty, balanced, and elegant. Uses all three of the Penedes grapes - 60% Parellada, 20% Xarell-o, and 20% Macabeo (Viura). Light citrus & mineral backbone.

2009 Pionero Maccerato Albariño

A nose that is surprisingly complex, elegant ripe fruit apricot, banana, apple, giving way to delicate floral tones and a subtle herbal background. Lingering fresh and fruity. Mild on the fore palate. Expressive perfume of mineral, sea salt, spring flowers, lemon zest, and a hint of tropical notes. Rounder, richer, and more Concentrated (Likely due to the superb 2009 vintage), it has a terrific focus and lengthy, refreshing finish.

2009 Seis Circles Red

50% Tempranillo, 40% Grenache, 10% Syrah. High altitude vineyards due south of the Pyrenees. 2,200 ha at 700 metres elevation. An intensely fruity, smooth and full-bodied wine, typified by aromas of blackberries, blueberries and cassis, and with a slightly peppery finish. This wine is soft enough to be enjoyed on its own, but also makes an ideal accompaniment to red meat and other hearty food.

2006 Palarea Merlot

Big black fruit, brambly. Peppery from the specific plot on the estate - Juicy, tasty. Stewed red fruit, pastries, & soft leather on the nose. Balsamic and resin, tobacco, roses and cigar box. Entry warm, licorice, flavors of plum, & sweet spice, tannins are well polished.

2005  Banda Azul Rioja 

The Banda Azul Crianza is 75% Tempranillo, 25% Garnache aged 12 months in American Oak barrels. Lively aromas of spicy black cherry, licorice and musk. Smooth and warming with plenty of red berry fruit flavors, vanilla oak and notes of exotic spices. Classic Rioja style with vibrant fruit and new oak.

2004 Fuentespina Ribera del Duero Reserva 2004

It is a Reserva wine from D.O. Ribera del Duero elaborated with 100% Tempranillo grapes from 70 years old vines in our winery: Bodegas Fuentespina, by José Manuel Corrales. Very dark in depth, on the nose it displays aromas of black fruits with roasted touches and spices, which remind us its journey through the wood. On the palate it is presents itself meaty, with an abundant body and tannins. Aromatic and very elegant end. Red meats, elaborate dishes of lamb and pork, big game and cured cheeses.
