Tasting Notes

Greetings!

Join us this Friday from 4 pm to 8 pm for a free tasting of organic  wines, sustainably farmed wines, and classic varietals from California and Argentina.  These wines are presented by two small distributors new to the Texas market: Global South Texas Wines and Cin Cin Wines.  We are excited to present these selections that are not widespread in the market.  The grapes are flagship varietals for their respective growing region: Malbec, Bonarda, and Torrontes from Argentina and Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Chardonnay from California.  For more information, see Sam's notes below.

See you there!

Cheers,

Matt and Sam

Lemony, bright apple , less floral. Some candied notes. Pretty ripe, a little spritz. Juicy & clean. Holds together well. Sweeter. Nose reminiscent of citrus, tropical fruits, & white flowers. Nice light yellow color with green hues. Balanced acidity, gentle & fresh. Pair it with cheese, salads, pasta & desserts.

2006 Familia Cecchin Organic Essencias de la Tierra Malbec

Mendoza, Argentina

Intense, with brilliant violet-red color. Elegant & stylish aroma, with a great mix of red fruit & spice. Well balanced with light tannins. Pretty nice for the money, a little bumbley. Fruity finish is pretty lengthy. While concentration is there, it is not super-focused.

Our Price: 12.97

2008 Bodega Sur de Los Andes Bonarda Classic

Mendoza, Argentina

Tangy palate, pretty big ripe nose. Juicy acids. Very well made, liked this the best of the five red wines we were shown on October 19, 2010. Wine style fresh and vibrant aromas of red fruits including cherry and blackberry with a hint of mineral that adds complexity. You should drink young within the next 3 years. Cooling of the grapes to go into the tank and cold maceration for 48 hours to 7 degrees. Alcoholic fermentation at 27-29 C ° with indigenous yeasts for 20 overs days. 3 day. Racking a tank with staves American and French oak for 30 days in which malolactic fermentation is carried out at 100%. Then allowed to stand in a pool of epoxy cement oak staves for 2 months

Our Price: 13.57

2008 GREEN HILLS Cabernet Sauvignon

California

The Wine - The full bodied, fruit-forward flavors of ripe blackberry and dark cherry is boosted by hints of smoky mocha and oaken vanilla. Well-integrated tannins, a rich-round finish with softness and a touch of mouth-watering acidity completes the well-balanced wine. Certified Sustainable - Lodi Rules.

2005 Beaucanon Cabernet Franc

Longwood Ranch Vineyard, Napa Valley

Nice fruit, dark & plumy, ripe, a lot of fine-grain tannins. More herby on finish. 14.5%, a little warm. Nice on the nose. Aromas are dark & rich - black & blueberry fruit, cocoa, smoky tea & toasty oak. Palate dominated by red & black berries & stone fruit, with savory oak, earth, & cocoa at the edges. Tannins have grip but are smooth. Cabernet Franc acidity is smoothed down to a light tanginess.
