Greetings!
We hope everyone had a great 2010 Holiday season and would like to extend our warmest gratitude for making our first half-year successful and fun!  This weekend should bring a little more "seasonal" weather, so let's start it out with some big South American Cabernets, perfect for keeping warm through these frigid Texas blizzards (lol.)   This Friday, we will taste our new current favorite Argentinian Cab as well as three tiers of Cabernet from Galan Vineyards  out of the Central Valley of Chile.  The lineup is listed below.

See you there!

Cheers,
Matt and Sam

Don Manuel Villafañe - Kelte Cabernet Sauvignon 08 - Mendoza, Argentina

Making wine in Argentina in the year 1611. Grapes grown in Maipú, at the base of the Andes mountains. Shows a full ruby color with an expressive nose of red and dark berries, violet cassis and a hint of cedar from 2 months in barrel. In the mouth, it is full bodies with rich notes of black currant and spice - red fruit, all up front. Extremely well balanced with supple tannis and a long finish. Serve with any red meat, especially lamb or game. Stews & pasta dishes can work also, as well as many cheeses.

Galan Cabernet Sauvignon 08 - Lontué Valley, Chile

"This Cabernet Sauvignon is outstanding within its category, aged and bottled ion our own cellar. A wine with body, which has an intense aroma of red fruits & tannins. In the mouth it leaves a delicate & elegant bouquet. The wine adapts perfectly to all types of red meats & cheeses. We recommend drinking it at room temperature so as to better enjoy its aroma and texture."

Galan Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 07 - Lontué Valley, Chile.

"The wine posseses a dense ruby/purple color, exceptionally expressive aromatics consisting of unique black cherries, raspberries, and a touch of blackberry & cassis. The Private Reserve Cabernet is full-bodied, with velvety tannins, considerable glycerin, and a spicy, long, moderately tannic finish. This vintage appears to be a complete wine, as well as one capable of lasting at least a decade."

Dona Auristela Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 08 - Lontué Valley, Chile.
Powerful, yet full of finesse, this deep ruby wine exudes rich, complex layers of ripe fruit. The intense bouquet releases enticing aromas of raspberries and black currants, alternating with sweeter hints of vanilla and cloves. On the palate, this wine immediately shows its great consistency with perfectly integrated tannins and just the right balance of acidity. The vibrant flavors of blackberry and blueberry weave into a long, warm finish. The tannins are extremely fine and velvety, ensuring continued development of complexity in the bottle.
