Friday's Line-Up
Our Tastings Are Absolutely Fabulous.

Greetings!

We hope everyone had a great Christmas holiday, but the festivities are not over yet.  As promised, we are doing Taste the Bubbles Part 2 this Friday from 4pm - 8 pm here at East End Wines.  This time, we are breaking out a few big guns, including Jean Pernet Grand Cru and Georges Lacombe Grand Cuvee, both outstanding values for grower-style Champagne!  Also open to taste will be our biggest selling Cava, a dry Prosecco, a top-notch California Sparkler, and a Cremant de Bourgogne.  Whether you need that special bottle to toast with at the stroke of midnight or just some value sippers, we've got you covered.  Don't miss out!

As a reminder, by law we must be closed New Year's Day and Sunday (Jan 1 - 2) but will be back fresh and ready for 2011 Monday morning at 10 am :)

See you there!

Cheers,
Matt and Sam

Naveran Cava Brut 07

Made from classic Cava grapes (Xarello, Macabeo, Parellada) in the Alt Penedes, Spain, then aged on the lees for a year and a half. The still wines are harvested, crushed, and fermented separately in stainless steel at low temperatures. Citrusy and floral nose leads to a dry, fruity, clean taste with balanced acidity and a lengthy finish. Great as an aperitif with tapas or sushi, Cabrales cheese. Consistent & superior quality, all estate fruit, old vines with smaller yields for concentrated, high quality grapes. Most of it is sold to the French, who know their bubbles. Mineral, rocks, touch of hay; subtle but elegant; clean, dry, excellent cava and sparkler made from all classic cava grapes. Pale yellow with a touch of gold color; a flowery nose with echoes of white peaches. The three varieties are harvested, crushed and fermented separately in stainless steel tanks at a low temperature.

Jean Pernet - GC BdB NV

Quite yeasty on the nose with both nutty and apple aromas. Lively mousse, very small beads, very fresh and with loads of citrus flavours. Nice long finish with a grapefruit bitterness to it. Very refreshing and a very good QPR. From the world renowned Grand Cru village of Le Mesnil Sur Oger this wine offers unrivaled value at 45.77 per bottle. The Pernet family have worked their vineyards in Mesnil sur Oger at the centre of the champagne region for several generations. This Jean Pernet Brut Champagne is elegant and stylish on the palate with a splendid mousse. This is a superb wine from a small, award winning producer with a fantastic reputation. Pernet are based in the top quality village of Le Mesnil in the Côte des Blancs region of Champagne. They own 14 hectares of Grand Cru vineyards in Le Mesnil and have their own Press-house just outside Epernay. The wines are elegant yet rounded with good weight on the finish thanks to the exceptional exposure of the vineyards and the ripeness of the fruit produced. This pure Chardonnay from vineyards in Le Mesnil sur Oger, Oger and Chouilly is regarded as one of the best white wine grapes of Champagne. This wine ranked "Grand Cru" gets its sophistication and its bouquet thanks to the quality of grapes and the discipline of the assembly wines reservations.

Simonnet-Febvre Cremant NV

Very pale gold color, very fine bead, and a nice yeasty nose. On the palate, medium mousse, followed by green apple and a few yeasty notes, with a very nice, long finish. Hand disgorged, 2 yrs on lees, 60 chard, 40 pinot noir, I am told. Decent and refreshing - not hugely opulent - on the fresh side, with acidity but not tart. A wonderfully well-balanced wine, with fine bubbles, a persistent foam and a well-developed length on the palate. Fresh and powerful bouquet with beautiful ripe yellow fruit aromas. Fresh clean nose. Minerals, citrus on the palate. This Crémant combines the finesse of Chardonnay and the power of Pinot Noir. This Cremant has a soft and delicate body with an almost forceful frizzante. Features notes of lime, grapefruit and muskmelon, with a hint of calcareous love. It's good. I'd pair this with something that would work well with the frizzante - like charcuterie. "This sparkling wine is the only one made in the Chablis region. That's a shame, because with its great toasty character, crisp yellow fruit flavors and its beautifully delicate mousse, there should be more like it in Chablis. " WE90.

Laetitia Brut Arroyo Grande NV

Clean, nice bubbles, solidly made. It is fresh, energetic and slightly yeasty with a bright lemony note in its aromas and a correspondingly citrusy briskness to its youthfully vital flavors. Its focus on early drinkability is seconded by a mousse that is frothy and mouthfilling. The Laetitia Brut Cuvee blends estate grown Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Blanc from the Arroyo Grande Valley of California, each varietal contributing its own special character to the finished cuvee. The Chardonnay provides elegant citrus and green apple flavors, the Pinot Noir offers subtle earthy black cherry and red fruit nuances, and the touch of Pinot Blanc adds soft melon traces that round out the palate. The result is a wine that is perfectly fresh and lively which carries on the tradition of elegance that Laetitia wines are famous for. The Laetitia Brut Cuvee is celebratory, crisp and irresistible, as only a sparkling wine should be! 90 Points, Wine News: Zesty citrus aromas with hints of lemon curd and minerals. Rich honeydew melon flavors with tart apple and apricot notes. Youthful acids spark the close with a drying minerality. Warm biscuit dough, ripe apricots and summer cherries all show themselves in this irresistible sparkling wine. Enjoy this wine with cheeses, seafood, chicken or white pasta dishes. Enjoy it between courses to freshen the palate and especially enjoy it with friends, anytime.

Bisol Prosecco Brut Crede 07

85% Prosecco, 10% Pinot Bianco, 5% Verdiso . The wine is made from Prosecco, Verdiso and Pinot Bianco grapes grown on the steep hills of the Poderi Bisol. The first two varieties enjoy an ideal habitat in the clayey soils and subsoils of marine clay known as "crede" that are a common feature of the countryside. And those soils account for the name of this splendid Prosecco. The characteristics of this type of terrain are so special that the grapes benefit in numerous ways. They do not suffer from drought in the most critical periods and they develop unusual richness in terms of noble acids, varietal aromas and fruitiness. Brilliant straw yellow with a perlage consisting of a myriad of minute and persistent bubbles.  Scents of wildflowers that are appropriately Intense and fresh and an emerging and agreeable note of fruitiness. As in the bouquet, there are fruity hints of apples and pears and their harmony is completed by a rich and refined sapidity.

"Crede is among our favorite Proseccos year after year and the reason we love it so much is because of its sharp mineral focus and generous aromas of peach, honey and citrus. The wine offers balance and harmony with a floral flair and a bright, crisp close." - Wine Enthusiast

"Consistently one of the finest light-bodied, refreshing, crisp, pure Italian sparkling whites, Bisol's non-vintage Prosseco Crede reveals lovely citrus notes offered in an alluring, lively style. Enjoy it over the next year." - Robert Parker
