Two Mountain Winery Two Mountain Winery is a family owned and operated estate headed by brothers Matt and Patrick Rawn. In 1951, Matt and Patrick's grandfather Phil Schmidt began farming peaches, apricots, prunes and apples on 40 acres in the Rattlesnake Hills area of Yakima Valley. In 2000, Matt and his uncle Ron Schmidt planted their first vineyard; in 2002 Two Mountain bottled its first vintage. Today, the estate offers multiple bottlings with grape varietals that have proven successful in Southern Washington. This Friday, we are happy to offer four of these wines to taste; below are tasting notes from the winery:
Two Mountain Winery 2009 Rattlesnake Hills Riesling
Off dry at .58% RS with hints of hay, green pear, wild flowers and dust on the nose combined with incredible tastes of ripe citrus, green apple, and a hint of minerality, this wine lasts forever on your tongue and makes you remember why summer is so great! (ed. even though it's December :P)
Two Mountain Winery N/V Washington State Hidden Horse Red Table Wine
A blend, in the truest sense of the word, of 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 6% Syrah, 4% Lemberger and 1% Malbec. The nose opens with rich aromas of dark fruits, tobacco and white pepper followed by flavors blackberry, dark cherry and vanilla framed in toasty oak. Wahluke Slope and Yakima Valley fruit. Aromas of rich toasted barrel, bright vibrant bing cherry, blackberry and coffee on the nose are followed by inviting flavors of ripe red fruits, hints of toffee and vanilla, and soft integrated tannins with long finish.
Two Mountain Winery 2006 Yakima Valley Cabernet SauvignonAromas of coffee, dark fruit, and cedar combine with flavors of dark berry, currant, charred oak with velvety tannins and a lingering finish.
