Greetings!
Tomorrow we are bringing out the big guns!  Come taste the most heralded Rioja producer, R. Lopez de Heredia, two vintages of our top value Tempranillo from Reinares, and four Spanish wines from our friends at Askari O.H.  So, three Lopez wines plus the two Reinares wines PLUS four wines from Askari means NINE wines total, retailing 8.27 to 40.27.  What a great chance to try a wide variety of Spanish wines!
We had previously scheduled The Clay Jeffrey Band to play, but unfortunately it didn't work out the way we wanted it.  But, the license change is moving along; just today our little patio area to be setup next to the deck has been given the thumbs up by the Historic Landmark Commission, and a really awesome food trailer is in the works.  The Clay Jeffrey Band is on the top of the list to play once we have our on-premise license in full gear.  In the meantime, check these guys out!

See you tomorrow!

Cheers,

R. Lopez de Heredia Vina Tondonia

Located in the capital of Rioja, Haro, R. Lopez de Heredia was one of the first wineries located in this world famous wine growing region.  For over 125 years this winery has represented quality and tradition in a style that has become a benchmark for wines of Rioja.  Here is an excerpt from their website on winemaking philosophy:

"It all started in the middle of the nineteenth century when French negociants visited the Rioja region to find alternative sources of quality grapes to transform into wine, since the phylloxera epidemic had decimated their vineyards.  Our founder, Don Rafael López de Heredia y Landeta, a knowledgeable and enthusiastic student in the art of wine making, followed closely in their footsteps.

Don Rafael fell in love with the region and especially the area around Haro, the mythical capital of the Rioja Alta region. He observed that there was a magical combination of soil and climate that would offer the perfect environment for producing wine that would eventually become world famous. Around 1877 he began the design and construction of the complex that is today known as the López de Heredia bodega (winery), the oldest in Haro and one of the first three bodegas in the Rioja region.

For over a century our emotions have been rooted in our love and passion for this land and its harvest. We cherish our heritage, and this combination of love and the rigorous quality standards we apply, have become our trademarks and remain our maxim for today and the future."

We will be tasting the 2000 R. Lopez Reserva White (30.97), 2004 Crianza Red (29.97), and the 2001 Reserva Red (40.27).  As a contrast, we will be tasting the younger, everyday value 2007 and 2009 Reinares Tempranillo (8.27).
