Greetings! We hope everyone enjoyed their Labor Day weekend and this stint of cooler weather! September will be a month of change and preparation for the upcoming holiday season. As we are getting ready to move into a different license, we will be phasing out our distilled spirits program. Starting September 20th, we will be selling these items at 20% off or more of the retail price! This will be a great opportunity to get some early holiday shopping in, although quantities are limited, so act fast. We are also planning gift baskets for the holidays (pricing and options will be released very soon!) that will focus on our eclectic selection of vino plus feature local chocolates and other Texas products! We do plan to continue offering gift baskets beyond the holiday season as well. Once licensing changes in October, we will have more information on classes, events, and private tastings. In the meantime, check out what free tastings are on the agenda for the rest of the month.
Hope to see you soon!
Cheers, Matt and Sam

Cellar Pick of the Month 2004 Casanova di Neri Tenuta Nuova Brunello di Montalcino 100% Brunello (Sangiovese Grosso)
The area around the town of Montalcino has one of the warmest and most arid climates in Italy's Tuscany region, where grapes tend to ripen earlier than their neighbors in Chianti and Vino Nobile di Montelpulciano. These wines tend to be lush and full, appealing to a large international market. In 1980 Brunello di Montalcino received Italy's first DOCG status, and today Brunellos are sought after by collectors around the world for their quality and age-worthiness. Casanova di Neri, established in 1971, continues to be a leading producer, garnering herald from publications such as The Wine Advocate (2004 - 93pts) and The Wine Spectator (2004 - 96pts.) The 2001 vintage gained the top spot in the Spectator's annual Top 100 list. Although our wines our chosen with little regard to scoring and reviews, we seem to agree on this guy.

Value Pick of the Month
2007 Reinares Tempranillo
From Tierra de Castilla, the land of Don Quixote. This is the winery that makes the Protocolo and Mercedes Eguren Cab Rosado wines. Big and ripe black cherry and raspberry on the nose. Soft attack that leads into weightier mid-palate. Clean and pretty, falling short of stew fruit on the ripeness level, though it has a bit of sweetness. Can take a light chill because of softer tannins. Fermented in stainless and then moved to American oak. Easy to drink, pretty fine. --Sam Hovland
Our Price: $8.97 |
