Three Races Left
September 17, 2012
Greetings!
The winds were spectacular on Saturday for classic racing.  If you are on Facebook you will see that just about everyone on board had their camera out.  There are three more days left this season including this Saturday and Sunday.

The final Classics race is early this year, it is on Saturday September 29. A few of you have asked about the Harvest Fest.  The schedule change combined with The Main Street Associations change in leadership we have decided to skip the fundraiser for this year only.  It will return next year but for this year please sign up for the racing on September 29th.  The awards party will once again feature a food truck - this one is the Rollin' Cubans.  We will also make the Match 40s available to race along with the classics if you would like to put a team together and if there are too many racing on the classics.

Summer Classic Awards Party
I was remiss in posting these great action shots of the awards party for the Summer Classics Series.

Adagio won the first half of the summer and Jamie Deming was quite happy with her trophy.

Nautlius Winners
The second half of the season was won by Nautilus.  The couple in the middle were just passing through Oyster Bay and got recruited to join in the racing... and the party.

Charlotte Bellerjeau MVP
Caper won the overall Summer Series and Hunt gave the trophy to 14 year old Charlotte Bellerjeau who he deemed the MVP of the summer!

Caper Fist Bump
A priceless moment, Team Caper celebrates their win with a 'Fist Bump'.  Love it!
Finally do note that this week it is the LAST Tuesday and Wednesday night sailing.  I realize that tomorrow may be extra rainy for salty sailors but Wednesday looks lovely.  Sign up if you would like to sail.

See you on the water shortly,

Beach Clean Up
Thank you to "The Kiwi's" Ann and her nephews and Mom and Charlie as together in about 2 hours we were able to collect 80 pounds of trash from the beaches and sea grass and marshes from OBMC to the East and into the Cove.  I honestly didn't expect to find so much.

Oakcliff Cleaned Up...
Taylor Trophy
Sunday Oakcliff traveled to Larchmont Yacht Club to umpire and race in the Long Island Sound Yacht Racing Association's Match Racing Championship.  Cynthia Parthemos and her race committee team did an excellent job of keeping up with the shifty Northwesterly.

The entire umpire team was made up of Oakcliff-ers, with two umpires in training Bill and Bill, as well as sailors: Mike Quaglio, Kyra Goldsmith and Chris Johanessen and myself.

The winners were just as connected to Oakcliff:

David Storrs sailing with the talented Alice Leonard were first.
Koko and Mikey
Mike Komar and crew Mike Brown were second.
Jon and Madeline
Saplings and cutest couple Jon Hammond and Madeline Gill came in third.
