Greetings! This is an exciting week for Sailing. Friday, you'll be able to catch sailing and Oakcliff on ESPN Classic. Additionally, the Volvo Ocean Race kicks off it's first distance leg on Saturday, concurrent with Oakcliff's second to last Grade 5 of the year. Also, don't forget the SYC awards dinner on Saturday, please RSVP by Thursday.
This week you will begin to notice some changes to our newsletter - most notably - you will find links to larger, more in depth articles for further reading. Some of these linked articles will be written by us and posted on the Oakcliff website blog. We hope this will help provide more in depth, up to date, and relevant sailing information for our supporters.
If you have story tips or recommendations on how to improve our newsletter, feel free to pass that on to me via email.

Recap: J24 East Coast Champs
| |
The J24 East Coast Championship was held this past weekend in Annapolis. A number of Oakcliffers were there, including supporter Virginia Landauer who sailed aboard Trinity. Additionally, Nico sailed with Oakcliff alum Colin Leon aboard the Liberty Jet / Gorilla Rigging boat USA 4350.
Winds varied in intensity and ranged from NW to NNE which resulted in very shifty conditions. Saturday we had extremely low temperatures and very high breeze, combined with sleet and low visibility. After much deliberation the race committee called for a lay day. Two races were completed on Friday and another three on Sunday. Check out the Kattack race replays here, and the full results here.

If you're planning on attending the SYC awards dinner, remember to RSVP before Thursday by sending an email here.
We hope you will come close out the season here at Oakcliff by sailing or volunteering at one of our last two Grade 5 Match Races.
Sincerely, Nico Oakcliff Sailing Center |
