| AYC Fall: Ker 50 in First Place! |
The Ker 50 is leading its division after the first weekend of the American YC Fall series. Conditions were light and fickle but the Oakcliff Ker 50 crew, composed of supporters, acorns, and staff, kept their head in the game and came out ahead. Next weekend they hope to continue their streak.
The Ker 11.3 didn't fair quite as well as the 50, but the crew is optomistic going into next weekend as they have begun to master the boat's recent conversion from offshore/double handed mode to inshore/crewed mode. Stay tuned next week for the results! |
| Results: Shields Nationals |
Congratulations to John Burnham, Reed Baer and the crew of Grace #107 for winning the the 2011 Shields National Regatta! Check out the full results here. |
Hudson River Community Sailing
|
Last Tuesday night we had a special group join us for drills. James Cart, the Racing Coach from Hudson River Community Sailing, brought 4 of his students to practice with us. High School sailors, Sydney, Anthony, Isa and Alessia were impressed with the size of the SM40's as well as the beauty of Oyster Bay. We enjoyed sailing with them and hope to have them back soon! Grade 5's October 15 and 22
|
Oakcliff is hosting four more grade 5 match races this year, two in October, and two in November. These events are great opportunities for teams to work on their match racing skills. Go to the calender and click on each event to register. Also keep in mind the Halloween Invitational (Grade 3) is just around the corner. There's no better way to prepare than to get a couple of grade 5's under your belt. We are also looking for umpires (can be trainees) and race committee volunteers. Anyone wanting to volunteer can sign up on the calendar or email Bill Simon. |
See you on the water, Nico Oakcliff Sailing Center |
