Fall is just around the corner and Oakcliff is operating at full stride. This week at Oakcliff: match race drills resume on Tuesday, Shields nationals is just around the corner, IRC racing resumes with a practice on Saturday, the Fall Classic Series is off to a great start, and the Oakcliff J120 Peregrine landed another podium finish at the SF Rolex Big Boat Series. | Save the Date - Harvest Fest Party & Regatta |
 Last year's inaugural Harvest Fest Party and Regatta was a great success. Music, food, wine, dancing, friends, art, racing, costumes, decorations. Did we forget anything? Oh yes - YOU! The party is Friday October 7th from 6:30 to 11pm. It will be a rocking good time. Tickets are available on line $75 in advance and $100 at the door. The following Saturday will be the final classic race as well as the Harvest Fest Regatta with the added strategic challenge of the great pumpkin chase and costumes are highly recommended. Be there or be square! |
| Shields Prepare for Nationals |
 The Shields National Championship is taking place right here in Oyster Bay. In two weeks, September 21-24, qualified teams from across the country will be enjoying the hospitality of Seawanhaka YC and discovering the magic of Oakcliff whilst racing for the coveted title of National Champion.
This past weekend, local teams competed in the 'Shields Tune Up' regatta hosted by Oakcliff. Congratulations to Bam Miller and team for taking first place. Oakcliff's own, Bill Simon finished second and Mark Swanson rounded out the podium in third. Good luck to all at nationals! |

The Knickerbocker Cup and the Oakcliff International were incredible, but I'm sure many of you are itching to get back in the match boats and sail them yourselves.
Also everyone is welcome to join in on Sundays through the fall where Hunt holds 'match racing for classic sailors'. Just meet at OBMC at 9:30 for boat assignments and you'll be back by noon

 The Oyster Bay Classic Fall series started last weekend and will continue through October 7th. It is a lovely way to watch the season change and the colors burst as we sail a double lap out to the sound and back.

Congratulations to David Halliwill and and Jeff MacFarlane for their 3rd place finish at the Rolex Big Boat Series in San Francisco.
Also check out this wipeout video from the regatta. Well it is a bit more like a 'chase the spinnaker' but a bit of fun! |
