All Eyes on Newport June 22, 2010
Greetings!
Last weekend was, as advertised, wonderful.  This week we are focused on the Melges 24 fleet which is headed to Newport RI for the Nationals.  This means that next weekend will be slightly less busy but we still have all of the regularly scheduled activities for you to take advantage of.

Ker 50 on her way to the racecourse
Last weekend the Olt brothers and John McGrane each sailed a boat in the Shields Districts.

It was a relatively light weekend in the middle of the sound but as a supporter of Oakcliff you don't have to go that far.

You can sail in the Wednesday night Sagamore Yacht Club series and/or put your own team together for the Seawanhaka Sunday Series.  Both are sailed in beautiful Oyster Bay, where the Southerly has been coming in like clockwork.

Oakcliff Calendar to sign up for Wednesdays and email race@oakcliffsailing.org if you would like to put your own team together for Sundays.

Tuesday night match race drills are a great way to up your game.  We meet at 5:30 are generally sailing by 6 and in debrief by 8 or 8:30.  Come and take advantage of the summer solstice daylight.

Thursday night Sunset Sails are happening again this week.  If you want to escape the heat of the city come out and jump on a classic.  You are welcome to bring your favorite cool beverage onboard.

Finally a thank you to all who raced in the Friends of the Bay Regatta.  Congratulations to Kevin and team who won the Melges and a big thank you to everyone at Sagamore and to PRO Todd Field who managed to get three races off in a VERY confused wind.

Oh and thanks to all who bought raffel tickets to support the cause and Carl Traina and Jeff Hollihan you can pick up your prizes the next time you are at Oakcliff.

Sincerely,
