Greetings!

The sun is coming back ... with strength!    As the spring progresses and summer arrives there are more and more opportunities to sail at Oakcliff.  Many of these opportunities are on 3-5 person boats so get your friends together,  choose an event and sign up on line and come sailing at the Oakcliff Sailing Center!

Spring Classics
ClassicsWith the arrival of Anne Caie on Friday the Spring Classic Regatta fleet will be complete.    Racing on these absolutely spectacular vessels will take place on Saturdays and Sundays through June 12th.  To make the experience even more enjoyable the first start is not until 1:30 so you can attend your daughter's soccer game or have a nice brunch and then join Oakcliff at noon to be ferried out  to enjoy an afternoon race on the beautiful Oyster Bay.

Shields Sailing Every Wednesday & Sunday
Shields Racing

We have 6 beautiful Shields available for Oakcliff Sailors to race every Wednesday and Sunday.

The Sagamore Yacht Club hosts a evening race every Wednesday.  The start is at 6:30pm so ideally you are at Oakcliff by 5:30 with your life jacket where you pick up your winch handles, sailing instructions, VHF radio and get your boat assignment.  Each Wednesday we will have one Oakcliff team member assigned for boat check out and check in.  Often this will be our newest team member Colin Leon. Welcome Colin.

Sign up for Wednesday at: Sagamore Wednesday Night Race

Sundays the racing is at Seawanhaka and we can arrange a boat for anyone who would like to participate.  Please contact race@oakcliffsailing.org to request a boat.

Club Night at Webb Institute begins June 8th at 6pm.  We will not hold the Tuesday Night Drills on June 8th because of this very cool opportunity to see inside a key tool used for design and testing of hull shapes for all types of boats, from tankers to America's Cup Yachts.

This is an opportunity that most Cup sailors don't even get.  To make it even better you can opt in for a dinner in their waterside dining room.

Mixing it Up

Oakcliff Supporter and man of many talents Krik Larsen is having a show of his work May 21 - July 1st at the Mistretta Galleries in Locust Valley.  Feel free to ask Kirk about his nautical painting work while you see him out on the water showing off his nautical sailing skills.
Yes we have a lot going on but from what I hear it is important to sail while the sailing is good and this week looks to be stellar!

See you soon,

Friday Night Free Skate
Match Racing
OK so who remembers the good old days when we used to hang out at the roller rink?  Remember Friday Night Free Skate?

We are trying out this concept on Friday afternoons at Oakcliff.  For those of you who want to sneak out of work early we will have some activity on selected Fridays.  This Friday we are going to mix it up on the Swedish Match 40s.  We will hit the water just after lunch but come when you can and if we are all on the water just call  this cell phone:
415 760 7642 and we will buzz in and pick you up from OBMC.

I am sure that we will create some fun reminiscent of the 'good old days' but for now, don't bring your roller skates :-).
