New CCAC Promotions

All of the staff has been busy putting together some promotions for the members of Centre Court Athletic Club for membership, tennis, racquetball and fitness.  These promotions have been designed to reward the member who uses these facilities throughout the year.  Be on the lookout for some promotions for lessons, drill clinics, tournaments, parties and other options throughout the year.

Ball Hopper Usage

Centre Court Athletic Club has discontinued the restriction on ball hopper use at our facility.  Members or guests may bring in a ball hopper to help make it easier to transport and pick-up tennis balls while on the courts.  CCAC will also have a hopper of tennis balls ready if you would like to rent them while at the Club for a fee of $3.00

PCT Registration

All fall/winter permanent court time holders may register for the winter/spring session beginning on December 16, 2011.  The winter/spring session will begin on the week of January 16, 2012.  This session will extend for an 18 week period and holders will receive a $1/hr. discount if they reserve for the full session.

Web-Site Calendar

On the Hanover Park Park District web-site, there is an area for Calendar of Events that lists activities, programs and items that pertain to the Park District and CCAC.  By highlighting the item on the calendar, it will give you a brief description of the event and the time it is scheduled for.  It may also be included in the HPPD brochure.  If you see something in the Web-Site Calendar and would like more information on it, please call the CCAC customer service desk at 630-837-6300.

Fall Tennis Lessons

In August, 2011, CCAC introduced its new, exciting, more comprehensive tennis lesson program, which encompasses both Quickstart (4-10 yr olds) and junior development (11-18) lessons.  With these new programs, we saw 112 total lesson participants go through the Fall I session.  This total represents almost double the lesson participants in Fall I of 2010.  Thanks for the great start to a great year!

Fall II lessons start the week of October 24, 2011 and will run for seven weeks.  Signup for this new session has started.  Interested in signing up?  Not sure what class to take?  No problem!  Please see any member of the customer service or tennis pro staff for assistance.

Tennis Lesson Discount for Members

So you want to take tennis lessons and save money?  Great - CCAC has just the thing.  Become a member and start saving immediately!  Not only will you pay the lower member rates for lessons, but for each consecutive session you sign up for, the savings grow, and grow and grow....  These savings may more than make up for the cost of your membership.  Please see the customer service staff for more information.

He's Back.....(For Good This Time)

So we introduced him last year, but things did not go as planned.  Second time, however, is definitely the charm!  Karl Peterson, a 20+ year tennis professional, has agreed to join the CCAC tennis staff on a full-time basis and will be a vital role in developing CCAC's junior and adult programs.  Karl has been instrumental in developing high level junior programs throughout the area.  Early in his career, he was a key factor in growing the Courts Plus (Elmhurst, IL) junior program by more than 200 children.  As one of the first teaching professionals at Five Seasons (Burr Ridge, IL), he implemented NITTL tennis at that facility as well as grew a non-existent junior tennis program.  Finally, Karl was brought to Vaughan (Aurora, IL) to help revitalize a declining junior program after the retirement of Jack Sharpe.

Karl's first official day will be Monday, October 24, 2011, which is also the first day of the Fall II tennis session.  However, you may see him occasionally on court before then as some lessons have transitioned to CCAC with him.  He will be instrumental in working with the NITTL ladies drills, plus weeknight junior development programs.  Karl and I are both excited about the future of CCAC and the direction of our tennis program.  Please help me welcome him to our facility.

Junior Team Tennis

CCAC is starting an in-house junior team tennis league.  This league will be for any junior players 10-18 and will be split between singles, doubles, and possibly mixed doubles.  It's a great way to get the youngest club tennis players playing more than once per week!  Flyers will be available shortly and practices/matches will start in early November.  See Will Tennant or Art Steuber for more information.

For further competition, the USTA has an 18-under junior tennis league whose official home is right here at CCAC!  This season, CCAC hopes to have a few teams represent our club in competition against other local clubs using the JTT format (singles, doubles, mixed doubles).  The season for this begins in January, 2012, with signup commencing around Thanksgiving.  More information will be available in the near future.  See Will Tennant or Art Steuber if you are interested.

All Things NITTL

The NITTL season started in September, 2011, with CCAC being represented by four teams this season.  The ladies are doing great so far and look to be major contenders in each of their divisions this season.  Home matches are played at 10am and noon on Fridays.  Come out and cheer for your fellow CCAC members.

To keep us in tip top tennis shape over the upcoming holiday season, the tennis staff is looking into various NITTL holiday drills.  More information to come when available.  Interested in playing NITTL this year?  Contact Will Tennant as soon as possible.
