Qualify for Scholarships
- Eligible juniors will be automatically entered into scholarship and recognition competitions.
- These competitions include the prestigious National Merit Scholarship Program. Read on for more information on the National Merit Scholarship Program.
- Scholarships not only help you pay for college, but they can also help you stand apart from other students in the college admissions process.
Take Advantage of Other Benefits
- If you say "Yes" to Student Search Service on test day, you'll be eligible to receive free information from colleges and scholarship organizations that are interested in you.
- PSAT/NMSQT takers receive access to My College QuickStart™, an online college and career planning tool that's customized just for you.
- On average, students who take the PSAT/NMSQT score higher on the SAT than those who don't, and students who take the PSAT/NMSQT twice score even higher.
ASVAB Benefits for Students
The ASVAB is a multiple-choice test that assesses student's academic ability and can help to predict their potential for success in a wide variety of occupations, including those within the US armed forces. Its main purpose is to assist Midland High's guidance counseling department in giving recommendations on possible career paths to high school students, whether for civilian or military areas.
This vocational aptitude battery is administered free of charge and provides information about the student's level of academic preparation and general aptitude for success in various vocational areas. This information can be used as a tool for students in making plans for their educational, vocational, and career direction. We are pleased to provide this service to all of our junior and senior level students!
Taking the ASVAB does not sign up or commit any student to participate in military service nor does it obligate the student to talk to any military recruiter. If students or parents have any questions, please contact the Guidance Office at 432-689-1103.
