- The week of September 17-21 is Howdy Week. We will have our homecoming parade Thursday evening. The parade travels down A street and ends at the MHS gym. For more information on the parade and events, contact "Summer Van" <svan@midlandisd.net>. We will crown the homecoming king Thursday at the pep rally immediately after the parade. We will crown the queen during halftime on Friday night during the varsity game against Amarillo Tascosa.
- Challenge Day: 250 MHS students participated in Challenge Day. Students participating said it was "life changing". You will hear students say "be the change" once they have gone through this experience. Special thanks to First Pres for the use of their building and to our sponsors that brought in this great experience . We had over 30 parents volunteer at Challenge Day over the three days. Thank you to each of you that mad this special. Provided funding, we are considering adding three days for Challenge Day in the spring of 2013.
- Seniors will take the annual Senior Panoramic Photo Thursday morning. Students will begin lining up according to height beginning 8:45 on the west side of the building.
- Sophomore and Junior class pictures will take place on September 25 and September 26.
- MHS is hosting a PSAT/SAT Boot Camp on Tuesday, September 18th from 8:30 -4. Students should bring a calculator and pen or pencil. Students should arrive by 8:15 in the auditorium. Attendance is voluntary but required and recorded by period as a school related absence. The cost is $45. See Mrs. King for additional information. <sking@midlandisd.net>
- Jostens will be in the Trophy room on October 9th and 10th taking orders for senior rings.
- October 17th: All sophomores and select juniors will take the PSAT. All juniors not taking the PSAT will take the ASVAB. Seniors will have a delayed start on this day. Juniors taking the PSAT must sign up by October 5th and pay $15. There is no cost for ASVAB or PSAT for sophomores. For more details, contact Shelly King <sking@midlandisd.net>.
- November 20th: Deadline for requesting a retest for STAAR Algebra I, World Geography, Geometry, Biology and English I EOC exams. Contact Shelly King <sking@midlandisd.net> for more information. Students that did not meet minimum expectations for passing will automatically be required to test and do not need to sign up. Administration of STAAR EOC retests will be during December.
