Greetings!
Welcome to Midland High School! I am excited to announce that MHS finished the 2010-2011 year 4th in the state in the Lone Star Cup. Out of 225 5A high schools, MHS was behind The Woodlands, Southlake Carrol and Lewisville Marcus in the overall year end points for UIL athletics and academics. Since those schools compete in wrestling and gymnastics and we do not, I am not disappointed in our overall points. We also ended the year with 33 AP Scholars, one that ranked as a National Advanced Placement Scholar (we are very proud of Jon Langston and our other AP scholars)! Students will report to advisory Monday, August 22 at 8:35 AM. In advisory, they will receive schedules and go over locations of rooms and the layout of the the campus. Seniors and juniors with waivers MUST report to advisory in order to receive their schedules. A link to our advisory list (alpha by last name and room) can be found below. In the event of an error in scheduling, students will be collected from advisory and taken to the counseling center for corrections. In the event that a schedule is not what the student requested, the student will be required to attend the schedule until counselors can review it. Counselors will be available in the trophy room at the main entrance to look at scheduling requests beginning Tuesday from 11:20 to 12:10 daily the first week. Often, requested courses fill to capacity. When this happens, the schedule is completed using the second and third choices students and parents listed during spring registration. It should be noted, seniors needing credits followed by juniors and sophomores are the order of student priority in the registration process. Students and parents should remember that this year we will have lunch after 3rd period. A link to our bell schedule can be found below. New enrollees will go to the main office area. New enrollees should bring proof of residence (current utility bill), social security card, shot records, birth certificate and last report card and/or transcript from their previous school. Thanks for signing up for our newsletter. Please tell your friends to sign up if you find this information useful. In addition, we have a strong Twitter following and I encourage you to look into that. Finally, look early this fall for the OFFICIAL Midland High Facebook page. Sincerely, Jeff Horner Principal |
