Greetings!

I am especially proud of the Midland High School Bulldogs this school year.  Most recently, the MHS Drama Dawgs were selected in District along with LHS as District Champions in One Act Play.  This adds another title to our count of 6 District Championships for the 2010-2011 school year.

Midland High School is currently 9th in the state competing for the Lone Star Cup for 5A high schools.

The UIL Lone Star Cup is awarded annually to five high schools, one in each of the five UIL classifications (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A and 5A), based on their team performance in district and state championships. The winning schools in each classification will receive the UIL Lone Star Cup trophy and a $1,000 scholarship, also presented by the UIL.

Honoring the best overall athletic and academic programs in Texas, the UIL Lone Star Cup is open to all UIL participant high schools. Click here for more on the UIL Lone Star Cup.

Our main competition for this honor are schools traditionally known for stellar academic and athletic programs, such as Conroe The Woodlands and Southlake Carrol High School.  While one of these two schools appear to have 1st place locked up, MHS has the opportunity to move from our current position tied for 9th to at least number 5 in the state.

The continued success of our school and our programs lies in the dedication of the MHS staff, students and school community.  On behalf of Midland High School, thank you for your continued support!

In closing, remember that tonight, April 4, 7:00, is our Academic Awards program.  Please join us in recognizing the hard work our students have shown in the classroom.  Invitations for overall awards went out in the mail last week and teacher selected award recipients were notified specifically by that teacher.

Sincerely,

Jeff Horner

Principal
