MHS Swimmers Going to State |
Two Midland High swimmers will represent Midland High School in the Class 5A Swimming and Diving Championships in Austin.
Natalie Hinds will be going to state after winning both the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke and Dirk Lary won the boys' 100 backstroke. Hinds won Swimmer of the Meet at the Regional Trials recently held in Lubbock. Lary can still qualify for state in 200-yard individual medley after placing second with a time of 1:56.97, but will have to wait to see if he has one of the top 8 fastest times from around the state.
Hinds set a new region record in the butterfly with a time of 54.98 and broke her own regional record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.05, eclipsing the mark she set the day before with a time of 57.21.
Congratulations to the MHS Bulldog Swimming and Diving Team and Coach Esquivel for a strong season. Good luck Natalie and Dirk at State! We are proud of you!
The State Swimming and Dive meet will be held February 26th and 27th.
