Golden Globes, Oscars and Césars
Tis the season for movie awards!
French Cinema is having an exceptional year, and that's reflected in the U.S.! The movie The Artist, already the recipient of the Best Picture - Comedy or Musical, Best Actor - Comedy or Musical (Jean Dujardin) and Best Score awards at the Golden Globes, has been nominated for no less than 10 Oscars!
The only film to beat this feat this year is Hugo, with 11 nominations. While both pay tribute to the early days of Cinema, as mentioned in previous newsletters, the Martin Scorsese masterpiece also offers wonderful images of Paris. The Césars (France's equivalent of the Oscars) takes place soon: on February 24th. The movies that lead the field this year are, no surprise, the phenomenon Intouchables and Polisse, but also the political intrigue L'Exercice de l'Etat.
