Michel Hazanavicius, Director of The Artist

Hazanavicius started his career in French television (Les Nuls): soon he started to write and direct shorts for TV programs and for commercials , finally he turned to feature films. Already known for his détournement of old Hollywood standard with La Classe américaine, Michel Hazanavicius got inspired once again by even earlier times in American cinema with The Artist, recreating a silent movie starring French sensation Jean Dujardin, whom he also directed in the exquisites spy-spoof movies OSS 117 ( Rio ne repond plus, Le Caire , nid d'espions). The Artist was a tremendous success at this year's Cannes Festival, where it received the Best Actor Award. Michel Hazanavicius and the star Jean Dujardin will be touring widely in the US, where the movie will be released next month.
