I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I
may learn how to do it. ~Pablo Picasso
I was so happy when I stumbled across this quote. Reflecting on the genius of Picasso's work and this quote, it inspires me to think of the journey that he must have taken to reach the peak of his talent. Just think how many canvases he must have "messed up" in order to get to his masterpieces.
My point is this: We always have to strive to push ourselves to do things that we don't know how to do if we ever want to learn them and perfect them. If you want to learn how to do something, you've got to just try it and play with it with no fear or regard for how it might come out as you are learning it. The only way to learn to do something is to do it. Here's a perfect example: When I choreographed the move in Tik Tok where you make your arms do a "wave" on the "ohohohooh" part, I did not know how to do that move and I think I looked kind of crazy doing it. But I knew that if I put it in there, I would eventually learn it and so would all of you. And we did.
So, go ahead and give yourself permission to play, to mess up, to practice, so that you may learn how to do whatever it is that you might want to learn. Whether you are a Jam Crew, Dance Fanatic or a Newbie, there's always some move that we can work on. Let's just do it.

Past Demos & Events QCDQ On TV QCDQ owner Angie Acosta and QCDQ instructors

Sweet 16 Challenge March
Madness rocked our world for the second time! With fabulous energy in
the classes and some class "scores" in the 130's, QCDQ participants were
on fire!! The winners of the contest were: Sarah Wilde- Cabarrus,
Ashley Finison- Mecklenburg & Pam Ledbetter- Gaston. They each won
an Unlimited Class Card! Congrats to them!
DanceOut for Pets
This benefit class on April 2 was a huge success! QCDQ participants came to DanceOut with Erica Butler and the QCDQ instructor team at TSRC bearing gifts for our furry four-legged friends. Together we filled a whole back seat & trunk with dog & cat food and we raised more than $100 in cash for the Second Harvest for Pets.
DanceOut in the Park To celebrate the arrival of spring, warm weather and longer days, we had a Tuesday night DanceOut class at Lineberger Park in Gastonia with Gina Moody & Arleen Segovia on April 13th. It was lots of fun and we had a great turnout of more than 90 Dance Fanatics!
QCDQ Auditions A big round of applause to all who auditioned to be a part of the next QCDQ Instructor Training Program. These individuals did such an awesome job and we are so proud of each one of them, no matter what the results. New trainees to be announced soon!
Kate's Skates Demo QCDQ instructors and several participants performed a 20 minute Zumba/DanceOut demo for the kids and parents skating at Kate's Skates in Indian Trail on April 23rd. After the DJ announced that audience participation was welcome & encouraged, the kids started filling the rink. Before we knew it, there were some 50 kids dancing with us! So fun- check out the videos captured by the Gildersleeve Duo.
Part 1- This is the 3rd song and kids had already started to come out.
Part 2- This is a few songs into the demo and this is when the 3 ring circus begins.
Ladies Night at WR Thanks to everyone that came out to dance with us at Whisky River's Ladies Night. It was a fun filled evening and 3 of our participants got lucky with winning a prize! We definitely got the party started with our little performance!

Jam Crew in Action Debra Frazier, has been jamming with QCDQ since January 2009, and has been a member of the Jam Crew since December 2009, but Debra has been a faithful "Angie" follower since October of 2006! Debra can be seen in many of the Charlotte classes week in and week out doing her thing at HGRC, TSRC and FWRC! Long before Debra officially became a Jam Crew member, Debra always spread the word about QCDQ classes to her friends and co-workers. She also recently attended the "Make it a Party" workshop and you might just be seeing her beside the instructor one of these days. She also always lends a helping hand to new participants that look like they might need a little help. Thanks Debra for being part of the QCDQ family and for being an exemplary Jam Crew member! Hit It => Dance Impact Same Great Class, New Name
We know that you are all fond of and used to "Hit It" the name one of QCDQ's signature classes that mixes booty shaking with butt kicking, but unfortunately for legal reasons we had to make the difficult decision to change the name to Dance Impact. It bummed us out for 5 minutes (okay maybe 35 minutes), but then we decided that it was best to just move on. We expect that Hit It fanatics might react similarly, but again we have faith that we can all pull through this together. After all the main question is: How will this affect you and/or the class? It won't. Just a new name is all. By the way, you might not know this right now, but you need some Dance Impact in your life. Where can you get some Dance Impact? In Charlotte, every Monday 7:15-8:15 pm at Tom Sykes Rec Center with Megan Paul and in Gastonia, every Saturday 9:30-10:30 am at Bradley Center with Lisa Burke. Return to top

Rules, Policies & Procedures Thank you for your support and cooperation! We just wanted to thank everyone again for reviewing and respecting the Queen City Dancing Queen Class Policies & Procedures. It really helps to make class smoother and really provides a better class experience for all when all participants are following the rules. We appreciate that you have been so much more careful with things such as bringing your class cards to class every time! One more thing that we would like to make sure that everyone remembers is the "No spectator" policy. Please keep in mind that most of our participants do not like the feeling that they are being watched and that is why we have this policy in place. We politely request that you avoid bringing anyone to class that you do not expect to participate (with the exception of kids 10 & under). If you would like to show a loved one- whether it be a husband, child or
friend what we do in class- the best thing to do is join us for one of
our demos! |
