"To touch, to move, to inspire. This is the true gift of dance."
-Aubrey Lynch
We know that many of you come to class with goals to lose weight (or at least just work off the pizza you ate for lunch). We know that many of you have been told by your doctor that you must start exercising- or else! We know that many of you want to feel stronger, look leaner and fit into those favorite jeans that you miss wearing. So, as fitness instructors, we strive to make
every class "worth" your time for the sake of the "workout" that you
want to receive.
But QCDQ instructors know that the changes that occur go beyond the size of your pants. We know that as your exterior transforms, there are equally important internal changes that will occur. People who were shy, anxious and standing on the back row during their first days at QCDQ transform Jam Crew members who to come to the front row and dance beside the instructor. They gain confidence, become happier, and learn that being fit is fun. These things are HUGE!!! We love to inspire you from within. And this is why we love what we do.

Jam Crew in Action
Tara Motes, has been jamming with QCDQ since August of 2008, and has been a member of the Jam Crew since January of 2009. She also became a helper for QCDQ that same month, as she helped Gina Moody take on East Gaston with our first QCDQ class in that area. Tara was caught in Jam Crew Action a couple weeks, when during class a fairly new participant was getting a little overwhelmed by the moves. Tara noticed this and went to help her out, talking her through the harder moves and assuring her that she could do it. Thanks Tara for being part of the QCDQ family and for being an exemplary Jam Crew member! If you are interested in being part of the QCDQ Jam Crew, click here for more info. Return to top

Class Venue & Time Changes for QC & G-town in April
As much as we hate to change things up on you, sometimes we have to make these difficult decisions that will be better for everyone in the long term. And this is one of those times. We hope that the changes will be positive for everyone involved, and we apologize in advance if the changes cause any inconvenience. Urban Shimmy is moving to First Ward Rec Center Beginning on April 5th, First Ward Rec Center, located at 610 E 7th Street, Charlotte, NC, will be the new location for this very popular class. This class has been held in the multipurpose room of Tom Sykes Rec Center for a year now and has grown tremendously. Now with 40-45 weekly participants, you literally can not shimmy one more person into that room. Luckily we were able to find a larger location that is only 5 minutes away from the current location! The class will still be held at 6:30 pm on Mondays and Kat Walker will still be your shimmy-licious instructor. Note: There is overflow parking for FWRC across the street. Monday Nig ht Hit It is going to start a little earlier-- 7:15pmBeginning on April 5th, Monday night Hit it at Tom Sykes Rec Ctr with the fabulous Megan Paul is going to bump up it's class time to 7:15 pm. We hope that by making the class time a little bit earlier, the class will be more accessible for a larger number of participants. (We got a lot of feedback that the class was too late). Also,as soon as basketball finishes up we will be taking this class upstairs to the gym to give you even more room for your sidekicks!
Beginning Moves in Gastonia is moving to St. Marks Episcopal ChurchBeginning on April 6th, Gina Moody's Beginning Moves class will be moving to a new (and bigger) location. St. Mark's Episcopal Church, located at 258 W. Franklin Blvd (right across from BB&T) will be the new place of jammin' for Tuesday night Beginning Moves participants. We have been having 40 participants in that class and it is getting hard to move in there, so we were happy to find a larger location that is pretty central for Gaston County Dance Fanatics! Class will still be held at 6:30 pm on Tuesdays and Moody will still be your fabulous instructor. Note: Due to a prior scheduled meeting at the church, we will not be able to have regular class on April 13th; however, we are working on a special event for this night. Stay tuned. Return to top

Newest Head Instructor
Erica Butler
Erica Butler, a Gastonia native, has been dancing her whole life. When she found QCDQ last year, she knew that she wanted to be a part of the magic. She jumped right into the Instructor Training Program and proceeded to attend classes as often as possible in Gastonia & Charlotte. In her time with QCDQ she has helped to plan QCDQ events, like the Back to School Bash, Fa-Boo-lous Halloween Party, Jingle Bell Jam and Booty Boot Camp. As a head instructor, Erica will be assisting with training of new instructors and she will also be visiting current classes to help share new choreography. If Erica doesn't know you, she wants to, so please go an introduce yourself when you catch up with her. You can also be guaranteed to find Erica at her 3 weekly classes- Wed. 6:00 pm at Winget Rec Ctr in Steele Creek, Fri 5:45 pm at Tom Sykes Rec Ctr in Dilworth and Sun 3:00 pm at Armstrong Ath Club in Gastonia. OC-Divas
Keeping things rolling
In January 2010, with an ever expanding class schedule and a growing base of participants, QCDQ implemented the role of the Operations Coordinator. The Operations Coordinator (aka OCs) are in charge of making sure that all the behind the scenes stuff is running smoothly. You should feel free to contact your OC with any questions, concerns or comments that you would like to share. Each OC strives to keep sign-in running smoothly and help to make sure that the QCDQ procedures are being followed. They also carry around QCDQ apparel and other inventory, so make sure to give them a holler if you need more goods. The OCs are: Return to top
