Greetings!

Thanksgiving is upon us and truly one of our favorite times of the year. We hope you will be surrounded by the special people in your life and eating some of your favorite foods. Don't forget to take a few minutes and remember all that you have be thankful for each day.

I was watching "Apollo 13" recently and was pleasantly surprised by a scene of a previously taped interview with Jim Lovell that I hadn't noticed before. He was asked if he could recall a time when he felt fear during his days as a pilot. His answer was: "I remember this one time - I'm in a Banshee at night in combat conditions, so there's no running lights on the carrier. It was the Shrangri-La, and we were in the Sea of Japan and my radar had jammed, and my homing signal was gone... because somebody in Japan was actually using the same frequency. And so it was - it was leading me away from where I was supposed to be. And I'm lookin' down at a big, black ocean, so I flip on my map light, and then suddenly: zap. Everything shorts out right there in my cockpit. All my instruments are gone. My lights are gone. And I can't even tell now what my altitude is. I know I'm running out of fuel, so I'm thinking about ditching in the ocean. And I, I look down there, and then in the darkness there's this uh, there's this green trail. It's like a long carpet that's just laid out right beneath me. And it was the algae, right? It was that phosphorescent stuff that gets churned up in the wake of a big ship. And it was - it was - it was leading me home. You know? If my cockpit lights hadn't shorted out, there's no way I'd ever been able to see that. So you never know... what... what events are to transpire to get you home."

What an amazing story that in the midst of that darkest of moments Jim saw the light-literally. He could have panicked, he could have ditched his plane or he could of done any of a number of fear-driven reactions. Instead he remained calm and found his way home. It is such a wonderful lesson that reminds each of us to stay the course and know that light always follows darkness.

"The black moment is the moment when the real message of transformation is going to come. At the darkest moment comes the light." ~Joseph Campbell

Letters Sharing the Journey

Letter from Lauren, a new friend of Trust Your Journey:

Beth,

I am a 21 year old girl who lives with an incredible amount of muscle pain. One day I was a division 1 college athlete and the next I found my body in pain with any muscle exertion. The past three years I have watched this disease affect more and more parts of my body. I have had numerous unsuccessful surgeries, many different diagnoses and too many treatments to count. For a long time, I thought my life had no meaning if I had to live with this pain and lose my identity as an athlete. I have endured a lot of heartache and frustration and still continue to pursue a cure. This summer I saw your TYJ bracelets at a store and was instantly hooked. The message spoke to me. I actually was moved to tears when I read the tag. For once I felt less alone. For once I knew there was someone out there who understood just what I needed to hear even if our struggles were different. It gave me hope that although I feel out of control with my medical situation, there are some times that I have to just let go of trying to control things I cannot control and just trust the journey. I have worn your bracelet ever since, as does each member of my family. This message picks me up on my hardest days and renews my hope and faith during moments that I feel I cannot go on. Each day I start my day by logging onto your facebook page so that I can read a positive inspirational quote to get my day started on a good note. Those three letters, TYJ, have had such a profound impact on my life. I am grateful that I found such an incredible message.

Lauren
