Welcome back!

Before I get started, I want to write more of a personal note to explain what it is I am doing, why I am doing it, and what I am hoping to achieve by publishing this e-zine.
 
First off, I thought I would like to introduce myself properly. For those who already know me, it's perhaps a way to get to know me in a different way.
 
I am a very passionate person about many things, and for the last 11 years I have been counseling women and men, working with their energy to forge a balance between their minds, bodies and spirits. My passion about health and the human body, achieving balance through proper nutrition, and maintaining that balance has been a great motivator and the guiding force in my success as a weight loss counselor. 
 
Some years ago a friend came to me for counseling.  Ann, now my partner, weighed 230 pounds on that day.  Our first session proved to be the start of her amazing journey toward organizing her emotions and imbalances. At the end, all that was left to take care of was her weight.  You see, the weight issue was actually the easy part; the difficult part was her relationship to food and the importance that she gave it in her emotional life. Ann had never had success with weight loss, but with my guidance, she was able to lose all of her excess weight and reach her goal of 130 pounds-the weight she continues to maintain today.

After Ann's success, my phone did not stop ringing.  The calls came from women desperate to find out how she did it.   I started counseling these women about weight loss, nutrition, and more importantly, the emotional imbalances that were reflected in their weight gain.                          
 
In the years that followed, I successfully counseled hundreds of women, and they lost thousands of pounds.  One woman after another who had tried every diet out there came to me defeated and without much hope that this would be any different than all of the other programs.  Well, they were wrong. It worked for them. Every woman who committed to my weight loss plan reached her goal.  It worked because I was able to guide them through their personal journeys and help them finally understand why they had not succeeded in the past. 
 
Before long, I found myself working seven days per week, counseling even on Thanksgiving morning!  What I had to offer was working so well that I could never keep up with the demands on my time. When I realized that I would soon have to start turning people away, I decided to explore new ways to share my weight loss plan  with a greater number of women.  I knew I needed to write a book to reach more people.  I started writing down everything that I talked about with my clients: all the anecdotal stories of their journeys, their failures and successes. I knew I did not want to write a typical This Is How You Lose Weight  book: a book guaranteed to work for you IF you follow it perfectly. Why? Because I knew that most of you who have given up after trying a thousand different ways to lose weight would have the same discouraging results with such a book.
 
I knew that I would have to explain what you need to understand about your self to lose weight.   It is the path to weight loss that works. I will show you what to do, but then I will also explain why you stopped in the past, why you threw in the towel, and what was, and probably still is, really going on in your head.  That is why what I do is different. I get women to see that weight loss is possible, that the journey within is necessary, and that they can do it! 
 
More about my weight loss plan will be available on my web site, an interactive site where you will get support from me as well as many of the women who have been on this journey of weight loss before you.  You will find answers as to why you feel you can't succeed, and you will begin to understand what has been in your way all of this time.
 
Now then, there has been a little bit of confusion as to what this e-zine is.  Many of you thought this is the web site I have been talking about for the past year.  So, this is not my web site.  That will be up sometime in the near future, and you will be the first to know about it!
 
Here, on my e-zine, you will find uplifting stories of women who have achieved their goals, as well as tips and suggestions that will help you along.  You can then click onto my blog at www.justloseit.com/blog to read my thoughts on a variety of things I have learned and want to share with you,  including this weeks newest lesson :

I would like to extend my readership, and I would be grateful for your help.  What I would like is to hear back from you.  I would like this e-zine to become an exciting, interactive space for us to boost one another.  I would like to hear your thoughts about what you have liked and disliked, so far, and what you would find helpful in the coming weeks. By the way, men are also welcome to take part in our discussions and to discover a lot of good information on nutrition and weight loss strategies. I don't direct my words to men because they don't tend to have as many emotional ties to food and overeating as women do.  So guys, you will have to excuse me if I talk to the women more.

My favorite things to eat!
 
Also girls, in this part I want to share some of my favorite recipes. This week I would like to introduce you to one of my favorite things to eat:  Chia Seed Pudding!! It's an amazing food, and I want to explain why and then tell you how to prepare it. Yes, if you're wondering, it's the infamous chia pet debuting a second time, now as an amazing super food!!
 
My friends and juice-cleanse extraordinaires Mary and Ruth gave me this recipe from Accordance Cleanses.
 
Chia seeds are tiny black, white and gray seeds native to Mexico. Chia seeds have been consumed as a staple food by Aztecs along with corn, beans and amaranth. What makes them so special? They are loaded with Omega 3 fatty acids-much more than salmon per gram. They are also rich in antioxidants, dietary fiber and protein. 
 
Chia seeds and Agave nectar (a natural sweetener that does not raise glucose levels) are easy to find in any health food store.
 
Chia Seed Pudding looks and feels like rice pudding but has its own unique taste.
 
 
You will need:
1/4 cup chia seeds*
1 cup almond milk (I prefer that, but you could also use coconut milk, soy milk, or water)
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla extract**
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg, or ginger
Agave (a plant-based sweetener derived from the agave cactus)
Raisins or other dried fruit  (I prefer it without the dried fruit)
Sea salt-a very little if you have to. (It tastes fine without the sea salt, and if you are prone to water retention, skip it!)
 
*You can adjust the ratio of chia seeds to liquid to get the consistency you like.
**You can also add other flavors to create the taste you like-experiment and be creative!
 
Mix all ingredients together making sure all chia seeds are wet.  Cover and refrigerate 1-2 hours until set.
 
Don't get nervous when you finally see what it looks like. It mostly looks like a bunch of fish eggs and is surprising at first glance, but I assure you, it is delicious and amazing for you! You can make it at night, stick it in the fridge, and by morning you can eat it for breakfast. If it thickens too much, just add a little bit more almond milk and stir.  This will fill you up and satisfy not only your taste buds, but your nutritional requirements, as well.
