Team Impact Wins Oregon Open
Impact Jiu Jitsu competitors showed up to win on October 1, and that's exactly what they did. In all, Impact had 52 individual competitors wearing the blue at the 2011 Oregon Open.
With other academies banding together to make larger affiliations, Impact was not the biggest team on the mat. That didn't stop us. Impact's 52 competitors brought home 19 gold medals, 11 silver, and 25 bronze, earning 229 total team points (48 more than our closest team competitor).
Impact's community of competitors, more than 400 strong (right here in Oregon), is a testament to this win. Together we learn and grow and have fun doing it every time we step out on the mat or cheer our teammates on.
Congratulations on matches well fought and for supporting one another as a community and a team.
Get ready for the United Combat Sports Sub League Open tournament on January 21. This tournament follows classic Sub League rules, so start working your submissions.

Impact Storms US Open
Impact Jiu Jitsu's Michael Chapman, Armand Debruge, John Goforth, Bryan Marugg, Bryan Nuro and Mark Pagaduan traveled to San Jose, California for the 2011 US Open, October 15-16.
The two Bryans were on fire, battling their way to the finals with a flurry of submissions and points. Bryan Marugg finished the day as the Purple Belt Light Weight US Open Champion. Bryan Nuro is now the Blue Belt Middle Weight US Open Champion as well as a bronze medalist in the Open Division.
Coach Michael Chapman brought home silver medals in both his Black Belt Feather and Open Division. Mark Pagaduan won silver in the Purple Belt Feather Weight Division. Coaches Armand Debruge and John Goforth had great matches as well but did not earn medals, this time.
Mark Pagaduan, about the trip: "Team Impact at US Open 2011. Hard work, dedication, great teammates, and last but not least GREAT coaching pays off!"
Great job guys. You inspire us all! A special thank you to Tony Gracia. Tony donated two gis to Impact's traveling competition team. Funds from the sale of these gis helped cover some of the costs of the team's overnight accommodations. If you are interested in helping to fund future trips, please stop by the front desk in Beaverton.
