| Las Vegas International Open

On August 14, Impact Jiu Jitsu's Rodney
Buswell, Woody Little, and coach Matt Leech competed in the IBJJF Las Vegas International Open in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Rodney was up first. This was his first competition as a purple belt. He pulled guard and attacked with vigor with armbar and sweep attempts. His opponent was able to pass his guard and got a straight armbar from cross sides and Rodney was forced to tap.
Woody Little was up next. Woody received a gold medal in his weighted division where no one was brave enough to compete against him. Woody received a silver medal in his open weight division. Woody worked from guard attempting sweeps and submissions, but did not have enough time to finish them. He lost by 1 advantage point in a tough match.
Newberg Impact Jiu Jitsu co-owner and coach Matt Leech was up next. In the first match of his weighted division, Matt pulled guard and quickly armbarred his opponent in under 30 seconds. His second and final match showed more domination as he outscored his opponent 6 - 2. Matt looked relaxed and in his element for his open weight division. He won his first match by points (4 - 0), with submission and sweep attempts from guard. His second and final match showed a great takedown and excellent control to win another gold medal. Matt's matches can be viewed online at http://www.youtube.com/user/bjjnewberg.
Congratulations to our three competitors for representing Impact so well. Thank you to coach Michael and Tracy Chapman as well as our competitors' families for going down and supporting our team! Congratulations to all the other Northwest teams that represented as well. Team Oregon took home many medals from the Las Vegas International Open.

Nuro Rumbles the Roseland
Bryan Nuro made his MMA debut on August 28 at the FCFF's Rumble at the Roseland in Portland, OR. Bryan and his opponent battled for the first round, with Bryan showcasing his stand up skills. In the second round, Bryan was able to finish the takedown to get the fight to the ground. He easily passed his opponent's guard and settled in a top crucifix position, trapping both of his opponent's arms. His opponent's face was left defenseless and the referee was forced to stop the fight due to strikes. Congratulations to Bryan on his victory! We had other fighters scheduled on the same card, but their opponents backed out of the fights.
