Sub League Qualifier #1

Sub LeagueThe 2010 Sub League season started off on February 13. Impact Jiu Jitsu had a full team of competitors and brought home many medals. At the end of the day Impact was in first place, Marcelo Alonso Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was in second, and SBGi was in third. Results and highlight photos are at subleague.com. Thank you to all who came out and made this event a great success.

Arentz Awarded Purple Belt
Impact Jiu Jitsu Coach Joshua Arentz was awarded his purple belt on February 3, 2010. Josh is a man who trains very hard and constantly works toward his goals. He has an open minded approach to training, which seems to be one of the keys to his fast take on Jiu Jitsu.

Belt Promotion

Josh recently graduated from Impact Jiu Jitsu's Coaching University and has taken on revitalizing and revamping Impact's Youth Program. Beaverton's kids classes have already seen substantial growth in numbers and attendance - with more than 50 Cubs in all. We'd like to thank Josh, as well as youth coaches Eric Loar and Jeremy Carver, for all they do for Impact's kids.
George Sotiropoulos Defeats Joe Stevenson
Our friend George Sotiropoulos defeated Joe Stevenson in UFC 110 in Australia on February 20, 2010. It was a great fight with George winning by unanimous decision. The fight was awarded the "Fight of the Night" bonus. We were proud to see the Impact Jiu Jitsu logo on George's fight banner, and during the post-fight interview, he thanked the guys at Impact Jiu Jitsu. George has been training Jiu Jitsu with coaches Michael Chapman, Armand Debruge, Keisuke Andrew, and Eric Jetton.
Tran Brings Home NAGA Medal
Anthony Tran traveled to Texas for the NAGA Dollamur Grappling Championships on February 20. He placed 2nd in his no-gi division, losing in the finals to a black belt. Anthony won the first match of his Anthony Trangi division with a kneebar. Anthony battled out of multiple foot lock attempts in his second match, but ran out of gas. He got caught in an Ezekiel choke in the very end of the match. That opponent would go on to place first in the division. Congratulations, Anthony. Awesome job.
Chris Haueter Seminar at Nemesis Jiu-Jitsu
Chris Haueter will present a 2-day seminar at Nemesis Jiu-Jitsu in Portland. It will take place on March 6 and 7 at 11 a.m. The 2-day seminar is $50 per day or $80 for both days. Chris is one of the first U.S. Black Belts and awarded coach Michael Chapman his black belt. Please call Nemesis at (503) 477-6248 or check them out at nemesisbjj.com.

Sub League #2 - April 3

Registration will open this week for Sub League Qualifier #2 on April 3. This is your last chance to qualify for the 2010 Championship event on May 22. Placing first through fifth at one or both of the qualifier events makes athletes eligible to compete in the Championship (athletes only have to compete at one qualifier, not both, to qualify). A first place win in one qualifier awards competitors 50 percent off their Championship registration; a first place win at both qualifiers awards them a free Championship registration. Watch subleague.com for the latest updates.

PAN Jiu Jitsu Championship

Approximately 20 Impact Jiu Jitsu members are travelling to Irvine, CA, to compete in the PAN Jiu Jitsu Championships. The tournament is April 8-11. There is still time to sign up to compete. Please visit ibjjf.org for more information.
