Newberg Schedule Changes

On January 4, 2010, Impact Jiu Jitsu in Newberg will begin a class schedule. In response to you, our members who support the gym, we are focusing more on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gi classes and adding a Mixed Martial Arts class. Here is a look at the new schedule:

Mondays and Wednesdays | 5:30-6:30pm | BJJ1

This class will focus primarily on the basics. It will form the foundation of your Jiu Jitsu journey. This class is recommended for all white belts.

Tuesdays and Thursdays | 5:30-6:30pm | BJJ2

This class will be a more advanced class. In this class you will use your knowledge of the basics in order to learn more combinations, concepts, and ideas. This class is recommended for all colored belts.

Wednesday | 5:30-6:30pm | Mixed Martial Arts

This class will teach all aspects of fighting: Striking, clinch, takedowns and grappling. This class will run concurrently with the BJJ1 class.

Friday | 5-7pm | Timed MMA & BJJ Sparring Rounds

This is a time to practice, drill, and sharpen your skills. This is not a formal instructional class, but a chance to put the knowledge that you already have into action.

Saturdays | 10-11am | BJJ Review

This class will review what we have previously covered in the week's gi classes.

To view Newberg's full schedule, visit bjjnewberg.com.

We REALLY want to encourage members to train on the appropriate nights. Anyone can train any night of the week, but the BJJ1 class will be strong on the basics while the BJJ2 class will be strong positional control/conceptual learning. We also will no longer allow free rolling during class times. This is a distraction to the other members who are in class to learn.

Thank you for letting us know what you want and helping us to improve our gym!

Belts for Christmas
Belt PromotionsA healthy crowd of Impact members were on hand Saturday, December 26, during Beaverton's open gym to help award Jason Fong and Andy Lukesh with new belts.

Jason Fong was awarded with his blue belt by Head Coach Keisuke Andrew. Jason has been steadfast in his training, ever present in both BJJ and MMA classes. As his skills have grown, so has his role as a leader. Jason is frequently called on to assist instructors in classes and is a great asset to his training partners and Impact as a whole.

Andy Lukesh came in to train on the 26th to brush off some grappling dust and share in some holiday cheer. To everyone's delight, the dust flew off to reveal that Andy's game has only improved with rest. Over the past couple of years, Andy has experienced some of life's greatest joys - marrying the love of his life and adding a new one (his 22-month-old son). Head Coach Michael Chapman proudly awarded Andy with his long overdue purple belt.

Congratulations Jason and Andy!
