You probably guessed it:Tsunami on the Square Performing Arts and Culture Festivalis free for the audience to attend, but not free for us to produce. One of the unique things about Tsunami on the Square is that we pay our performers. Many small town performing arts organizations do not. Why do we do it? Because we love our artists, we want them to feel supported so they can give us their very best in return.
Maybe its more honest to stop calling ourselves a "free" festival and start calling ourselves a "Community Supported" festival. Because, if it wasn't for folks like you, we couldn't make this festival happen. When state-wide and city arts grants dried up this year, we appealed to you and many of you hit that donate button to keep us going.
Now we are in the home stretch and setting up all the supplies it will take to have a wonderful, an inspiring and a safe Tsunami on the Square.
Please take a moment, make a donation and when I ask on Tsunami day, "Please raise your hand if you supported Tsunami this year" I will be glad to recognize you among all those in the audience as someone who made Tsunami happen in this, our 12th and greatest year!
